Hello every one, I want to buy a new glove but would love to know everyones opinion on what you like/look for in a leather glove?

1- How much would you spend on a leather glove?
2- Who do you think makes the best leather gloves?
3- What is the most important thing for you when you buy a new glove... Durability? Cost? Fit?
4- How many times a year do you buy a new glove?

Thank you

Chris

I don't think you can go wrong with FJ and I go for their SciFlex. Reasonably priced and pretty hard wearing. They aren't the softest leather out there but suit my needs. If I want something softer I use their CabrettaSof. I tend to buy 3-4 at the start of the season and they normally last. I use a few old ones for practice

Hi ctaylor08. I don't want to rain on your parade, but do you REALLY need a glove?
I don't use a glove anymore, I used to, but then had to play without one and noticed no difference what-so-ever, other than I'm not spending money on them anymore!
I do, however, carry a pair of MacWets, just in case it rains.
If you really feel that you need one, I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice soon.
All the best,

Slime.

Footjoy Pure Touch for me, just bought 3 in one go to last me through until next year. Soft and close fitting, perfect. Not cheap (£15/16 each) but I like to have as few variables as possible when I'm playing. Same ball, same glove etc.

I use thevtaylormade r11 tour preffered gloves. Great glove but doesnt last long. Not good at £15 a whip

I was in sports direct last week and if your not a brand junkie they have dunlop tour elite carbretta leather glove for £5.99. Good quality dont know how long it will last though

Is there not a glove fitting centre near you?

Yes indeed, it is the only point of contact you have with the club, getting the correct thickness of leather and moisture absorption properties is critical. It can have a huge impact on your game...... get properly fitted!!!

Try and combine CF with tee peg, cap, and towel will save time and energy going back and forth to the pro.

Footjoy stasoft for me 4 this year, feel and fit the main factors durability comes down the order IMO.

I use the Srixon leather glove, get them off ebay at around £16 for 3. Fit is just right for me

ps... I did get a proper fitting before deciding on these gloves ;)
