1. Tone down the Hollywood style marketing b/s " .......promotes extreme velocity........full military power....."

2. Lose the go faster stripes, knobs, levers, sliders, dials,

3. Choose any colour as long as its black.

4. Release new models only once every 1-2 years.

5. Make stuff that lasts. particularly shoes and clothing.

6. Keep the prices down. I mean how can Titleist justify the cost of a pro V1? They've been around years so any R&D must have been paid back many times over. The cost of making a single ball now must be less than 10p I reckon yet they charge around £3

That's pretty much the same with any manufacturer in every single walk of life from cars to golf to football boots etc

The demand is there

With you on the clothing and shoes. They just fall apart.
As for the price of pro v 1's. Thats life. A can of carling sells for about £1.50? The can cost 1.5p and the lager is 0.4p. WOUNDER!!!

At least with cars you can choose to have one which is plain, without the decals, whale tails, numbers on the doors, etc.

And you can in golf - there is a choice out there.

Clothes falling apart ?

And shoes "wear out" - there is a difference

I've made a post on this before. I have found that golf gear such as bags, shoes and cloths dont seem to last as long as other sporting goods. I've gone through 3 golf bags in 2 years. the ball pocket split on one, zip broke on another and the stand broke last week. And I did love adidas shoes but keep wearing at the inner heal. I have to admit I am a walking accident though and a bit heavy handed at times

OK there is a choice out there but its not that easy to find a quality, plain, no frills driver.

Ping, stealth black. i20 very under rated club, as is the Anser.

Oh my goodness, what is happening to me? Bought a ping club, now raving about them.. i feel dirty, hope this doesnt affect my TMAG sponsorship!!

I suspect if any manufacturer followed those recommendations they would be bankrupt within 6 months.

Golf is big business. Yes it would be nice if it was to be a cottage industry, but it's 2013, corporations needs to make profits and market the hell out of their products.

To be honest I think the consumer benefits as they get a wider choice plus they can pick up great gear at knock down process when the next release comes along. And as for Pro V1s then don't buy them if they are too expensive, there are lots of cheaper alternatives out there which in reality unless you are a pro, you will notice very little difference.

And as for stuff not lasting then a conspiracist would argue that it is done on purpose to get you to buy more stuff. But then again my Ping windcheater is still going strong after 4 years, as are some Nike trousers and my Ecco shoes still are fine. And to be honest all clothes nowadays are pretty disposable as that's the business model most follow.

They call this moving toward middle age Sean... well not moving, Moved!!! ;)

That's it I'm getting (got) old , its just crept up on me all of a sudden  Perhaps that's why I thought "Afterburner for your ball" was a bit naff, I'm not young and trendy enough.

Club makers should still cater for people like me though, TM and others should bring out a "classic" range, for those who just like their clubs plain and simple.

TM don't know what 'classic' is! - unless its longer, faster, further they wouldn't have a clue - look at the white thing - where's that gone now?
