Be toying with the idea of getting a 3 iron for awhile so been on the look out on flea bay for a cheap'un just incase i didn't get along with it and found a brand new mizuno mp58 with a dynalite gold s300 stiff shaft.

I won the bidding and got it for less than £30 including p+p which i reckon is a complete bargain!?

It turned up today and it looks amazing but also looks abit like a knife compared to my mx200's !

I've been hitting my irons really well the last few rounds so i reckon this will be the real test to how well i'm striking the ball.

So tempted to go out now for a few holes to try it out.

If you find that you do like a 3 iron, I have an unused MX-200 3 (and 4) iron still in the plastic if you're interested? (Sorry for posting here, just seemed relevant) Has Dynalite Gold R300 shaft.

This is going to feel quite a bit different from your 200's - mainly due to the shaft. Rifle 4.5's are much softer than S300's. This 3 iron is going to feel a bit like a fence post.
But I hope it works OK. I only got 5-pw in the 58's - got a bit scared of the 3 and 4!!

If i do like it and hit it well i may end up changing all my irons anyway as i don't the shafts in mine are right for me.

Thanks for the offer though.

Yeah the stiffer shaft was one of the other reasons i bought it. The rifle 4.5's in my 200's seems to give me too high a ball flight so it will be intresting to see what diffrence the stiffer shaft makes.....if i can hit the bloody thing!

I'm not suprised the 3 and 4 scared you, it looks like a knife compared to my 200's

Well i went out on me own tonight after work and tried the new 3 iron off the tee on a short par 4. Caught it well and hit it in the middle of the fairway about 190 yards.

I thought to myself ( yeah so whats so hard about hitting these so called unforgiving irons) so on the next hole dropped 2 balls on the fairway about 200 yards from the green. Now this is when i realise this club really aint that easy to hit, felt like i swung good but caught it a little thin and wow did i feel it in my fingers! Still got the ball to go quite well but you really need to strike it really well to get the best results.

I think a few trips to the range with it first before i use it out on the course properly!
