Why is one of the most inform strikers playing wide right with Rooney as lone striker?

Surely if playing one up top it should be Sturridge with Rooney playing off. I do wonder with Roy.

It must be an England thing as we continually play players out of their normal club position.

NO one should play out of position in the national side except for injuries This is typical Roy its what he did at Liverpool . How does a player who has not played all season for his home club get in the England team (Cole). What has Wiltshire done this season to merit a place every time I watch Arsenal he is very average and looses the ball to much in middle of park. Sterling has played well in front of Jonston this season so why play him on the left typical England .

spot on. Maybe its Roys tactic to throw off the opposition for the tournament!!!!

He is just trying out formations , England have a lot of very good young players now with SG in the middle and I hope he takes them and let them loose , takes time to get who can play with who right , I think they be hard to beat but will they score goals

Watched it last night thought Jack Wilshire looked lost in that set up , the subs made the game better , well Lallana coming on & Sturridge going centre forward seemed to work better ...
I think Ashley Cole is in bother of making the panel , the young boy Wright (?) and Baines should be ahead of him..
Smalling looked lost aswell but Jags will play there ...Cant decide on Sterling , i dont think he is good enough yet tho

Don't think what formation he try's we will struggle,I fear he will be to negative in his tactics ,whilst I agree we have some good young players coming through I think we will not win many games and will struggle to score.;)

Going into a World Cup without a couple of decent keepers is not good.
To be honest I could not name three English premier league keepers.
The rest of the team seems to be shaping up nicely, I hope Hodgson sticks with his younger players.
I quite fancy them to do well.

Hart, Foster & Ruddy with Butland as next generation.

Of far more concern is the lack of right-backs and cover for Jagielka & Cahill.

That and the pedestrian pace at which the ball is moved when compared with the leading contenders sadly diminishes any optimism created by the emergence of some decent young players.
