Ive just sat down with a cup o' tea to watch the US Open, and havent managed 10minutes before the 'Get in Da Hooooolllle' brigade and that incessant music has driven me away......

Just when will the yanks learn how to ....
1. Conduct themselves with some class on the Golf course.....
2. Do Golf on TV like the BBC.....

Your lucky. I changed onto the golf and hit pause. Left it for half an hour then pressed play (now fast forward the adverts )
Unfortunately, we just had out 6th power cut in 2 days. lost all the golf. Have to start again.

I remember an interview with Poulter & Casey after last years US Open and the interviewer asked them about all the "hollering" and they both said that its a bit silly but it doesnt put them off. Casey then added he's glad we dont do it over here yet!

I believe the Yank players do like the "hollering". It seems to be us reserved Brits and other Europeans who find it extrememly irritating.

The Yanks are loud and brash, watch Jerry Springer! Does my head in with all the whooping!

More annoying is 'Bubba' appearing very randomly and every time they have to say 'such a long hitter' but I would say he hits it a long way into the trees looking at his score....

Its a US thing but the New Yorkers are a particularly vocal community anyway but I agree that some of these spectators are the best argument for using a condom I've seen in ages.

It does seem particularly bad in this event and even HID has noticed it. I guess unless they get marshalls that actually do the job (not seen any of them actually controlling the crowds etc) or players/officials starting to object it will only continue and probably get worse.

I'm watching online so getting the full US commentary (not sure if that's what SKY are showing?), and have to agree.

The US commentators are just full on dreadful, no colour at all, just 'putt for birdie', 'he's got 170 to the hole', there's just nothing extra in a Peter Alliss style.

In fact I'd go so far as to say, that the US golf commentators are from the Garth Crooks school of OTT gravitas.

Also, the wholly ridiculous bumming up of Tiger, which earlier saw Tiger missing a putt, not becasue he misread it, or hit it too hard and through the break, but becasue he hit it 'too pure', and as we all know, when you hit a putt 'too pure', it doesn't take any break - apparently!
