After a couple of rough weeks off the course, been struggling to even swing a club.

Just going down for the sake of going, trying to take your mind off matters get away from the madness etc... and waking off usually before the 10th hole.

Managed 18 with a workmate yesterday and didn't play great but had a lot of fun

Had another game today with another friend from work and I made it. 78 Gross 7 over par, I couldn't believe it.

I've been close before but the pressure beat me

Only days before it was a struggle to even tee it up on the 1st, today I shot a lifetime goal.

We all know how cruel this game can be, but this couldn't have happened at a better time for me no matter how cruel this game treats me in the coming years I know there is always a wonderful moment that makes it all worth it.

just so happy with that and at such a time when it was needed, it's why I love sport

Its the best feeling isn't it? I had a 79, which was an amazing feeling, but it all sort of went backwards and then 81/2/3 became a disappointment ! i have managed a 75, doubt i'll ever do it again, but who cares, the fact I've done it, albeit, once, can't be taken away from me !

Fantastic! Well played you.

Just remember, "every day is a nice day, but some are nicer than others."

Well done, I've managed to break 80 on some low par, shorter courses, but never (yet!) on my current home course which is my real ambition. Breaking 85 with a card in my hand would be a start!

Well done. It is a really significant milestone. Breaking 100 is basic, breaking 90 is achievable for nearly everyone but breaking 80 starts to require some good consistent golf to be played. I still remember the satisfaction first time I broke 80 quite clearly despite it being over 20 years ago. Now for the hard bit......doing it regularly!!

How on earth can it be "a struggle to tee it up on the 1st"? That's the best moment! Full of hope you're going to shoot the score of a lifetime, reduce your handicap etc and about to enjoy anywhere between 3.5 and 5 hours (depending on the speed of play) of golf!

Congrats on the score btw.

Well done. A big sigh of relief when you finally do it! I got close several times and began to get frustrated at blowing up. Even stopped shaving until I did it! Have managed to do it 4 times since this year :) your next one won't be too far off!

Thank you so much everyone really means a lot, I'm not a member of any club and have never entered a proper comp just the odd society here n there... maybe now's the time to start.

Thanks for the response folks what a lovely place the forum is (sometimes ;))
