After Mondays round with Hovis and his S3 and me asking him my distance on every shot LOL I have had to buy my own Garmin S3. I was never really interested in a GPS system until recently and when Dave gave me a yardage and I picked the club I felt really confident over the shot with no hesitation to if I had the right stick in my hand. Thanks Dave you have cost me £210. Just back from AG and got it for a decent price with there 15% off weekender.

It will get its debut tomorrow on the PGA :)

I got the black one as I would hate to imagine the state of the white one after a year in this country :mmm:

Enjoy. I think the GPS really comes into its own from 130 yards, especially if you can move the flag position to replicate where it is on the green and get a revised read. From close range it gives me the information to make a good choice on which wedge to use. Hope the GP works for you

Cheers mate, yeah it's the one where I can move the pin to its exact position. Nothing worse than creaming a shot and watching it come up short or long of the green.

When's your handicap not being TBC? We await with bated breath.

When I can put 2 more rounds together without being rained off or froze off, when bunkers are out of play because of frost or greens frozen solid I don't think it would be fair to score them. I have one card done, a 88. I'm predicting 18 and have been playing off that for fun. When I joined they said they take 3 cards from the Derby course. I keep playing the PGA so I'm going to find out if I can use them or not for my initial HCP.. All comps are on the Derby.

Scrap that last prediction with my super power watch ill be off 6 in no time

I feel Like a power ranger with it on, its going to take some getting used to as I've never ever wore a watch or jewellery in my life.

I sold my G3 before chrimbo and I actually found I missed it more from 60 and in, even 40 yard chips as I practised them and had a club/shot to suit.

might get another when the weather improves

To be Honest from 60 in at the moment I use pure feel and I don't have a length of swing or exact club planned out for yardages of this nature. I'm not sure if this will change now but my pitching is decent and I'm hoping it will help me from 60-70+ yards as it did Monday.

Oh yeah, its great but at my course the markers are spot on from 200/150/100 so I used them. Away courses are when they really come into their own cos a lot I have played have crap markers imho (Woburn was one of them lol)

my eyes do that ;) (just about)

the clubs are going very nicely, been going through a massive swing change in the last week or so and much better, after looking at my awful swing on the wentworth vid I am glad I am making the change. Was trying some s&t sort of thing.... :(

Medal on Sunday and a practice round tomoz so lets hope it can be transferred from the range to the course.

i love my s3. a little on the big and heavy side though. i wonder if thats why i'm hooking my shots! if i put it on my right wrist will i start slicing?

I thought it was smaller to what I expected, will take some getting use to though having never wore a watch. As for your your slices and hooks... There's no hope

I bought myself a cheap Skycaddie from ebay last year, went that route as wasn't sure how i wold get on with it. As others have said I now find it invaluable from close range. Although I can't move the flag (I don't think) it gives me front middle and back which on some of our greens can be two clubs difference depending on the wind. I also like it for distances to hazards, it just seems to give a bit more confidence knowing I can go for it or hit say a full 8 iron and lay up without going in it.
