So I nearly stopped playing earlier in the year due to being terrible at golf but decided that I'd grow a pair and just get on with it. Started having regular lessons a couple of months back and practising as much as possible down at the range. After some time I've started to groove a pretty decent swing and haven't had much of a problem hitting any club in the bag. So why today at the range have I reverted back to my old swing (if you can call it a swing) and not been able to hit anything??

Every shot was either fat, thin, hooked or sliced! It seems just as I was gaining a lot of confidence and really enjoying the sport again I've been sent back crashing down to earth with a bang!

So frustrating and the worse bit is no matter how hard I tried to fix it the worse it got!

Still playing Friday though :whoo:

Happens to us all at one time or another.check the basics and restart by hitting small shots until you have your confidence and rhythm back.

Yeah going back to the range again tomorrow to start with the basics.

Don't think my head was in the right place today. Job hunting and golf aren't a good combination it seems!

When I first started playing I could smash my driver miles but my iron work was shocking and as I've progressed with my irons the driver took a nose dive, I finally figured it out last Friday and I'm now playing reasonably well in fact my p/p said it was the best round I've ever played even out driving him and his "SLDR" with my "3 wood" a couple of times and finally getting my first "one under" on our "520yd/par 5/11th" so just sit back and think for a minute about what you're doing different cos obviously you've changed something, that or you were just having a bad day !...

Don't you just hate it when you fall back into old habits for no reason! Just comes from nowhere and takes a while to get back into it.

It's frustrating. I was so confident about my game not cocky just confident and happy with it!

Got a lesson in a weeks time hopefully I've got it back by then.

I'd suggest a different hobby. If you hate the thing you're choosing to do in your spare time, then you're doing the wrong thing.

When he says he hates it, he doesn't mean he actually hates it. He means he's finding it bloody annoying and frustrating at present 'cos his swing has gone all to pot.

... but you knew that really, didn't you.

My other half was questioning what I do at the range when I totally topped my 5 wood off the tee last night in front of a 4 ball coming off the 18th green. She shouted "THIN BULLET" as the 4 ball laughed. I buckled and tee'd up another, to do the exact same thing. She just said "Right now that's enough"

Honestly was totally raging with myself internally, but belted a third up the fairway with a slight draw. Toppers always seem to pop up like bum gravy at a dinner party.
