Quick rant.....I have been under pressure from Domestic Management to sort out the garage as it is looking like a golf outlet store. I got a few quotes from places like Golfbidder however the offers really weren't worth it so thought I'd go down the route of eBay and hopefully make a few quid.

Anyway, out of 6 items that I listed only 2 of the buyers have actually paid. The auction ended on Sunday evening and despite sending a quick email to each of the 'winning' bidders I have heard nothing back. I now have to raise each as a case to avoid incurring fees and then relist to see if someone will actually pay up!!

I really think that eBay should be properly linked to PayPal and when you win the money is immediately withdrawn and paid. The buyers seem to get all the protection and very little comeback when they don't pay up.

never really found it to be an issue. Not everyone wants to use paypal.

I don't use PayPal since it was hacked, but I always pay when I buy something.

Wouldn't go near eBay with a barge pole if it was automatically linked via PayPal to my bank account, that would be nuts!!

I'll add to this, I won a set of irons. That had the cheek of charging £25 for postage!

By the looks of my normal post arriving this morning, it wasn't even next day.

That's hardly extortionate
Depending on courier......??
Certainly Parcelforce 48, due to weight of set of irons, and perhaps additional insurance, depending on value, could easy cost that.....

I would agree, £25.00 doesn't sound unduly OTT. Posting a driver which is a fraction of the weight is around £13.00 based on 48 hour delivery.

Yep - cost me £12 to send a shaft

£25 seems about right to send a set of irons

It's extortion. I sent two sets of irons out last week, for £11 and £12, with insurance Via Parcelforce 48.

Edit Edit: and also a Covert Driver with tool for £5.64!

P&P costs are shown in the listing - you must have known that before you placed your bid, surely?

Bear in mind too, that some sellers factor in their time for processing, packaging and delivery to their local carrier.

Ebay have recently curbed some of the blatant excess P&P charges, which were used as a device to reduce their charges. e.g. an item worth around £20 would be sold for £0.99 plus £25 p&p. The seller would pay Ebay fees on the basis of the £0.99.

Yep I knew, still wanted the clubs. Sent a message after saying if it could be posted via PF 48 and postage reduced, which was declined.

So thought hey ho, I need the box to post another set of irons out today, so it'll save me a trip out. It has to be next day for twice the price of PF 48 right!

I see where you are coming from but had already edited my post above to elaborate on my comment.

Personally I always charge postage at cost on Ebay and that, coupled with a £0.99 start and no reserve, often sees me getting higher prices than those who put a higher start price or a reserve and less than realistic p&p charges.

Well.....
They were
Either
Very cheap irons.....??
Or
You weren't adequately insured.....??
Basic cover on PF 48 is only upto £100

Some Other couriers charge a lot more

Price is for p&p so sellers can charge for packaging materials too
And some ebay categories now have a max postage charge to stop some sellers from overcharging

Sending a driver via Parcelforce 48 costs £13.19 however that only compensates up to £20.00. If you wanted to cover up to say £150.00 you have to add another £7.80 so you're already up to £20.99! That's the actual cost of sending without adding on any costs for the box etc.

the rules have changed quite a lot into favour of buyers. Sunday to Tuesday morning is not unusual although annoying I thought ebay rules were contact within 48 hours although if you have raised a case already maybe that's changed. maybe message them just as a query and say you want to post in one batch so can they sort payment asap.
I have had 1 or 2 issues but that's in over 3k dealings

To be honest that's what I have done. I sent a message yesterday evening saying that I was going to have to book couriers to collect items so if they are able to sort out payment ASAP i'll ensure that their item would be with them sharpish. Tried to keep it light to ensure that I don't seem overly demanding however nothing back so far. I'm going to give them until close of play tomorrow and then raise a case. I guess it's because I tend to pay as soon as I've won anything and expect others to do the same.

Sold a fair bit on the 'bay over the years and only had a couple of issues with buyers... However, my lad has been selling off some of his older 'devices' recently and he's been having a devil of a time getting payment...

Ive used MyHermes 60+ times to send all sorts.
Never bad a problem and never paid more than a tenner - even for a set of irons.
Post Office is extortionate in their pricing. I sent a £45 pound shaft fully insured for £2.78 the other day......

My heart sinks when I see MyHermes as the courier, it guarantees that I won't get the item for a good 2/3 days after it has supposed to arrive. I think it really depends on who does the deliveries in your area and unfortunately for me the guy in mine is a reject.
