Not really :ears:

but man was it a slog around the Dukes yesterday, my swing (I use that term very loosely) went completely after lunch. Has anyone else had this sort of complete meltdown and how did you overcome it?

Range tomorrow and shall be booking a course of lessons poste haste. I have ditched the 60 degree for a while & the nike vr's are in the bin... I shall overcome this pantsness :D

Lets hope I do better in Sundays 1st medal of the new season

After hitting the ball like a dream on Sunday went out last night played eleven and if I played bogey golf it would have been good

Forget it, move on maybe even take a bit of a break then get stuck back in!

nah its ok, I have already chalked it off as one of those things. I do have a permanent reminder of it though, a bloody great sky mark on my 4 wood :fore:

It has highlighted my need to practice as all I have done since November is play rounds and sod all else.

I still enjoyed the whole day regardless. Beats working or moaning kids/nagging gf any day of the week

I know how you feel I had a mare today also almost quit mid round and thought about giving the game up all together after today's round. I hit every poor shot you could think off pull push thin top inside edge slice hook only shot I didn't have was a shank. Even my razr fit was poor. I am going to practice in my garage net and try to video it also. If I don't improve then I don't no what I will do

I had a mare on the Dukes too but putting it down to my man flu. That said I didn't feel like I swung the club great all day even on the Marquess where I cobbled 32 points and 3rd place. Not sure what I did but found a way to get it round. Think I'll play in the roll up tomorrow as I can't play the comp Sunday now and see how it goes. Pete Tong and we're hit the range next week but hoping it was just a timing and tempo issue

Gibbo, dont be so hard on yourself, you need to look at the day as a whole and there were plenty of holes where you beat the rest of us 'supposed' better golfers. What you can improve on is shot/club selection but that only comes with time and experince so look at the holes you played well, improve on those and forget the ones you didnt play so good.

Also 36 holes is a bit of a slog, we were all flagging... (did I metnion my battery packed up???) and for a high handicapper playing at their best they were not easy courses!

Grab a few lessons and youll be fine and see you at the next meet.

Happened to me more times than I care to remember.

Usually it disappears come the next round but sometimes it can hang around for weeks or even months. (What's your ebay name? I've always wondered what it'd be like to play Ping clubs)

John Jacobs calls it "total swing disintegration", it happens to most for many reasons.

Key cure according to Sir John is back to basics ie neutral grip, square clubface at target, parallel left stance, ensure feet/knees/hips/shoulders even then swing smoothly a 3/4 swing for 20 shots

I agree it does happen to every one, just look back to Rory at last years Masters.

When I get into a bought of poor ball striking I turn to my 'get out of jail shot' This is a knock down stinger that flies lower and very straight. I place the ball back a little, make an early wrist hinge then hit down and through with a shorter follow through. It improves my tempo and gets the ball out there. (seemed to work well for Daren in last years open)

The worm burner is also my stock shot.... aka The Thin! :D

Congrats on your imminent 1000 posts SR

G1BBO, if you had seen me on the first 3 holes on Wednesday morning you'd have thought I'd never picked up a bloody golf club in my life.
I was really "up" for the day, (which is never a good thing). Got myself all excited, convinced that I was going to play reallly, really well. Topped one off the 1st, which only just cleared the ladies tee. Then proceeded to top my way up that hole, and the second, and the third. Swinging much too fast, no timing or rythmn at all, I really hadn't a clue. I was trying to slow myself down, to relax and concentrate but it just wasn't happening mate. 10 points on the front 9 and was really cheesed off. It happens.
I got a bit tired towards the end, 36 holes is 18 too many for me these days if I'm honest. I'd much rather stand a chance of playing 18 good 'uns than 36 mediocre ones, but it was so nice out there that 18 wouldn't have been enough.
It'll come back mate. And then go again. But don't worry, it will come back yet again.....but then it will go again as well.
