I found this fascinating......

Jeez not muc of difference  as the commentator said it shows there is more than one way to play this daft game!

If you could do the same with Nick Price and Ernie Els the comparison wouldn't be quite like this but not far off.

The key is the tempo.
Most good players have the same ratio to their swings - 3:1 - regardless of the actual speed of the swing (and by speed, I mean the time it takes to go from Ball-top-ball).
Lincicome's ratio is about 3:1, Miyazaki's about 5:1 - but they both work!

"
Miyazaki's about 5:1"

That's the problem with the game now days.

The pros get slower and slower, the youngsters copy them, and our rounds get longer and longer as a result.

:p:p

theres a low handicapper at our place who swings really really fast in the backswing and obviously on the follow through as hes a small enough fella but hits it a long way. ive said to him about his fast backswing and would he not slow it down and he said that he has tried it and he loses his tempo. hes a fantastic player and im not one to question his judgement, its just the opposite to me that has that slow lazy overswing backswing. i just couldnt swing that fast on the backswing if i tried!

Thats a great video Smiff.....
Id be interested to know if the club head speed is the same through the ball......
Id swing a little similar to Miyazaki in that im slow in the backswing but on the way down once im near the hips i go right through the ball at speed.......

If i go fast up and fast down or slow up and slow down everything gets thrown out of whack!

Very interesting stuff. I have lots of tempo questions but I think I had better look them up rather than sound stupid. <as would be usual>

I've worked really hard over the last few years to slow my swing down to a blur. I use the tour tempo CD which is 3:1 but over three different beats 27/9 being the slowest and which is way too slow for me. I struggle to keep everything co-ordinated as it isn't my natural rhytmn. 24/8 is the medium setting which is what I've tried to set my swing too now. Again it hasn't been easy and is still slower than I want to swing but gives me enough time (when I'm on) to get everything moving in sequence. 21/7 is the quickest of the lot and to be honest even though I swing fast this is actually almost too quick for me

At the end of the day it goes to prove that there isn't a singular right way or speed to swing and that it doesn't have to fit a certain mould to be right. Both swing have one thing in common though and that is the basics (grips posture, alignment etc) are fundamentally sound
