It all started four days before I was going on holiday at the beginning of the month. I was approved to buy some new golf shoes so started with… I know from previous experience 118Golf!! I ordered them on Tuesday evening and paid extra for next day delivery expecting them on the Thursday. The next day I thought I best check with them knowing what they are like, and yes you guessed it they where out of stock and made no attempt to contact me regardless of the next day £15 extra payment. Anyway I then ordered from Golfbuyitonline which I have had good experience in the past and paid an extra tenner for delivery on the Thursday. The shoes arrived and all was good, until I was on holiday playing a round when I noticed the side of a shoe the glue had come away from the sole, this I thought wasn’t too bad but would send them back once I returned from this joyous time, but them the cleats started coming off and once put back on where loose and not something you would expect from a top brand.

So the first day back (Saturday) from our great jollies I send the fault shoes back at my own expense, I then just give them a quick call on the Monday expressing my need for the shoes before Friday, I know I was asking a lot but it was a big day. I was promised and told different stories about the shoes, anyway they didn’t arrive. I then chased up this last Monday asking if the shoes have now been sent and was promised again they had been sent on that day only to chase up yesterday and find them not sent again and out of stock, they kindly offered to send the white and black ones because there was no difference to which I was at the end of my teather and replied "One is black and one is brown, how the hell are they the *polite phrase instead* flipping same… I cancelled the order and thought bollox to them and ordered a pair of white Ecco Classic GTX from Clubhouse golf for next day delivery so I could wear them this weekend. Being at work and stressed I changed my mind to black which they said where in stock and sat back expecting them today, yes you guessed it…

I feel like crying, someone hold me. All I want is a pair of shoes.

Rant over.

ps. I did call my pro and he doesnt have them in either.

No luck mate - I get all my gear off ebay, most of it brand new, and have never had these problems. Perhaps if these useless companies had 'feedback' displayed they would raise their game.

I agree.

To be fair Clubhouse golf so far have been the best. They have emailed be explaining the situation and offered to get me a pair next week and are being really helpful.

I did try AG store but they don't have the Synr-G's in brown only black which I hate the look of, so that saved me a trip after work. Looks like I will get the Ecco's sometime next week or week after.

Its just peeing me off, a month after I bought some shoes and £20 down I still don't have any.

After my still ongoing problems with the Mizuno MX700 driver and Parcelforce, you have my greatest sympathy.

The delights of being a consumer.

How many times have we come across the story of 118Golf? Internet retailers can work in a couple of ways. Offer lots of different products a cheap prices, but hold no stock. Or specialise and keep product in stock for immediate shipping.

The latter tending to be a little more expensive than the former generally. And which do we generally go for. Yep, the cheaper. (Maybe not in this case, and maybe not all of us!)

Keeping customers informed during internet selling is everything. Customers need to know if it's in stock. It's not difficult to have a linked stock control system that's 'live'. Customers need to know when it's likely to be back in stock. They also want to have an order confirmation, and confirmation of payment and despatch. All of which can be integrated into the website. Communication is the key to providing good internet selling.

The problem is that companies that offer this level of service often aren't the cheapest. Even if only by a couple of quid sometimes. But where does the customer usually go. Yep, to the cheapest!

Parmo.

I hope you realise that this ain't a personal dig at you. In fact, I really feel for you. For all I know 118 might have had them in stock, allegedly, and no one else did. But I'm afraid to say the price is still a major factor in purchasing decisions, and not service. Alas the two are often polorised, and are rare things to find in one company.

No problemo Hapless. I didnt realise some online retailers don't hold stock I just thought they all worked the same with some not having stock linked to web browser. That said Golfbuyitonline advised they had to send the fault shoes back to FJ and then the whole circle which takes time, I was under the impression that if something broke within 28 days you take it up with the retailer and they replace and they take it up with the supplier.

Doesnt matter now, no new shoes for yet another weekend and have to wear my battered, feet killing and damp Stuburts. Least I hope Clubhouse get these Ecco's to me new week and not the week after.

With that amount of hassle perhaps you should get the missus to do your shopping as you dont seem cut out for it...lol.

Don't like to state the obvious, but why don't you buy from your club shop ,

Pay a little more but you get what you want and at the same time support your own pro.

Unlikely to be more than the £20 down.

:(

I'm sure you've looked, but how about JJB?

My pro is the same as online companies, he orders kit in then adds 20%.

Clubhouse golf have come good and are sending me out some black Ecco Ultra Pro's and will be with me on Monday (I hope)

Since this is a thread about poor internet shopping experience, i thought i'd tell you about good service from an online shop...

www.discountgolfstore.co.uk

Order most of my stuff from them and they've been brilliant from day one. Only ever been out of stock on one item and they phoned me within 5 minutes of the order to tell me and offer refund or something else. They're also willing to talk about stuff over the phone as well. Overall, a very very good experience with them.

:)

I've not used them as I thought they were a tad expensive compared to other sites I've seen although if you've had good experiences then its reassuring to know.

I am hoping my shoes will arrive today as 118 golf tell me they were picked up by the courier on Friday. As these were ordered on July 13th I am not overly impressed. I ordered 2 pairs of the FJ 20th anniversary shoes (one a present from HID) and the website said they were in stock. I naively fell for it (schoolboy error) and it seems that they have actually had to roder them in from FJ themselves.

I have to be fair and say I hadn't had any problems with 118 golf in the past and often smirked when others complained thinking how lucky I've been. No longer. I will not be using them again for anything and urge you to follow suit. They aren't greatly priced and do not have a great customer service team (the phone went straight to voicemail during office hours all day Friday). They clearly lie (in stock clearly doesn't mean actually in their warehouse) and following from others I'm hoping I'm actually going to receive what I ordered.

I have sent a letter of complaint to their Customer Services Manager and copied Trading Standards as I feel their advert is a misrepresentation as the item WAS NOT in stock as shown. I won't hold my breath but please don't give them any of your hard earned cash

Got my shoes today, I say got them I mean to say I had to change the order to Ecco Ultra Pro's from Clubhouse golf on Friday, they where very good overall.

However, I ordered my new Cart bag from Golfsupport on Wednesday night expecting it early this week so I could take my GoKart out this coming weekend and yes you guessed it, I phoned them to check all was ok this afternoon and when to expect it only to find they don't stock them and they are waiting on Sun Mountain to deliver it sometime this week!!! So potentially it could be two weeks, told the guy that if you can not get it to me before Friday I want to cancel the order and I shall go elsewhere who stock items they advertise.

I had the same problem with golfsuport when I ordered two adidas shirts. Now you think clothing would be in if it says so but no, they had to order it directly from TM (not even direct from adidas) and it was nearly two weeks before they arrived.
