Just popped into the range today , really just to see what was going on, but the Pros were sat around doing not much and I fancied hitting some Pings so they set up a fitting session there and then.
Got measured up and took i15's and S57's into the bay and started hitting away. A few adjustments here , a change of club spec there and a while later I had my specification - +1/2 inch in length, 2.25 degrees upright (green spot), stiff AWT shaft and a standard grip.
Of the 2 clubs the S57, although I liked the look, didn't really click. It had a DGS300 and, although it's supposed to launch lower than the i15. I hit it into the stratosphere! The i15 had a much better flight and dispersion and we all agreed that was the one.
They then told me the price for 5-pw, including changing the length/lies on my 3 wedges to match - £350.
Seeing as the best price online was Snainton at 389 but not including the fitting/changing wedges, I paid up on the spot. And the Sun was shining - well almost.

So, a week to 10 days time and I'll have my new sticks.

What I found most interesting is that 10 years ago I was fitted for i3's at a different range. I was given red dot(1deg flat) reg flex and length shaft . Now my swing speed has remained fairly steady in that time (85-88 with a 7iron) and my height hasn't changed either. So how the hell they managed to get the spec that different I don't know. I told the guys and they double checked to be sure. I now know why I never played well with the i3's.

They were completely wrong for me.

You ickle Devil you !!!
And why not !!

I didnt get on with the S300 shaft when I demo'd my AP2's and Mizuno's, and went with ProjectX 5.5's instead, which I love.

I do like the look of the S57's tho :D

No play/boredom = new kit in the bag. I know I've done it myself, just buying a glove, balls or even new bats keeps up the interest until the day, yes, THE day when we can once again take up our rightfull place on that hallowed first tee and smack one down the middle again!!
Hope you like them Imurg.

The sun was almost out this afternoon so i went down the local driving range and when i got there the 2 pro's were locking up the shop early. I said "is trade that bad?" their reply was "No, we are off to the pub to celebrate selling some old fool some clubs that are far too long and upright for him. He was adamant that he wanted them regardless of what we said!!" :D ;)

Nothing to be ashamed of. I like the I15 big time and if you can get them to suit you and at that price then I think you've had a real result. Trouble is you've now got that 7-10 day twitch to deal with knowing they are on their way

Nice one Imurg. Nothing like a bit of impromptu kit buying, especially quality at a price like that.

You got me thinking about those new AP2 again.......

I had a similar incident today, i was passing my club so popped in to see if he'd got my new putter grip in and left with a new pair of white Dryjoy shoes.....and a putter grip!!!!......doh!

The shoes were in the sale and i reasoned that i may as well get them now ready for our 1 week of blazing sunshine in the summer!......er and they're stashed at work away from HID's prying eyes until i can 'introduce' them into my growing collection of golfing footwear!

Nice one Imurg. snow does bad things for your wallet.

I bought a set of second hand wilson di7's earlier in the week and am looking forward to playing with them down the range tomorrow. I have my first lesson on saturday aswell so it should be good this weekend :D

Succumbed this evening to some offers at onlinegolf. Taylor Made Rossa Monza Balero putter in 33" length for under £60 and a 2 for 1 deal on TM burner gloves. :o

Don't know why I did it your honour.....hangs head in shame :(

Just popped into American Golf today to scrounge a box to post a 3 wood I sold, and walked out with a Scotty Cameron Red X5!! On offer for £109...really nice. It's going to get some serious carpet burn tonight!! :D

I have been to direct golf, american golf (x2), complete golfer, Doug MacClelland at silvermere (massive shop), Bushey golf range, and have spent 20.95 on a long sleeve top.

I think I must be doing something wrong?

Help.

trounced??.....trounced?? it was a mere thrashing, never a trouncing. Anyway, I had to let you get one back after embarrassing you last week. And you missed my new high score of 246 when you left. :D
