I've read many threads on here regarding the cutting of driver shafts. I thought I'd let everyone know that it has made no bad difference to my RBZ. I cut to 2cm off the length of mine. It looks much better at address not choking down so far and although I was already a straight hitter after 3 rounds I'm glad I've done it. So if like me you've wanted to do it for a while but have hummed and hahed I would say it's ok

I did it as I had to choke down 2 and a half fingers. If I cut one into the rubbish or oob it was usually because my left hand wasn't where it should have been. It's easy to slip into bad positions. Now I can't slip that hand back cos the rest of the club isn't there anymore.

Good on you,you hear a lot of rubbish spouted about how much difference it makes, the stiffness will be affected and the swingweight changed. For most of us we could do with shorter length shafts, yes it feels lighter but most drivers are different swingweights anyway,as for stiffness all the shafts I've ever done say butt trim to desired length,if you want to alter flex tip trim.
As an experiment I ever trimmed a driver to 43" and to be honest it was 10 yards shorter and a fairway finder. I'm currently set up at 45" as I think it's the best compromise.

My teaching pro cut the shaft of my Burner (predecessor to the RBZ) down. Made no difference other than to make my drives a lot straighter. These clubs are long, but some if that is due to the longer shaft. Great if you can handle it, but a lot easier to control with a shorter shaft.

whilst I agree with what you have posted, the OP has simply trimmed away the bit of the shaft he doesn't currently use, and less than 1" as well. Therefore it's going to make absolutely no difference to the shaft flex for him at all anyway; and whilst it will make a tiny tiny difference to the swingweight it may now be better for him like this :)

what we have is someone who hasn't changed the playing length of his shaft at all, hasn't changed the flex aspects at all and has made an almost undetectable change to the swingweight..........posting that it hasn't made any difference other than to his eye!

I have been thinking of doing the same with my TM burner driver and started a thread a couple of weeks ago here asking for advice. But i haven't shortened the shaft yet because by gripping down about 1.5" i've been driving a lot straighter with no loss of yardage. So my thought at the minute is don't change something that is working. It will be a different story if i go back to hitting anywhere but the fairway.

i was thinking of doing the same , but there are times when in an open part of the course i really try and grip it/rip it ,

other times where out of bounds comes into play i grip down and try for a little bit more control
