I played at the meet at Tyrrells Wood on Tuesday and struck the ball pretty well, played a mixed foursomes last evening and had to play a scratch knockout game late this afternoon. Also I am suffering with a really heavy summer cold and feel dreadful!
I drew a 5 handicapper in the first round who shot one under gross in the club championship 2 weeks ago. I'm off 12 so a scratch game was always going to be tough. It seesawed back and forth and I sunk a good putt on the last to go back down the first. We, by then, are both cream crackered and our drives are ok but not good - and I don't find mine!
My opponent shot 76 and me 78 and, as my aim was purely to see how close my game is to singe figures I was absolutely delighted with the way I played although I even have been getting cramps in my hands! A match on Sat and Sun and then it gets a bit easier for an old codger!
