........... but I have been persuaded by the pro at my range to have a little look at the Mizuno JPX850 pro on his launch monitor this morning!

I was having a look at them in American Golf on Monday afternoon. Nice looking clubs.

I refused the offer of a swoosh with one though. I was very disciplined :)

The driver? I'm dare not even think about looking at it , I just know I will fall in love , and I havnt even pain a visit to icy wedges yet

I was looking in the bargain bin at AG on Saturday, disappointingly high number of Sports Direct wedges to be found, when I had a peak at the irons on offer. The design and finish on irons now really is quite stunning. Really beautifully engineered pieces of equipment. Luckily I am quite aware that divorce is more expensive than new irons so I walked away.

Accept your fate now, you will be buying them, and just enjoy the experience.

So, I did the fitting and, no, they don't go further than the X2's but the bad shots are generally straighter than the pull hook that the X2's give me. I was sure that the KBS Tour shaft was the one when I hit it yesterday, but, when he fitted the Nippon shaft I still stayed straight but up to 10 yards longer. The dispersion was pretty acceptable too

So, the Pro, knowing I was playing this afternoon suggested throwing down a few balls and trying the Nippon shaft out. Typically, I was playing pretty well in windy conditions on our still soggy course. When I tried it, it did indeed stay straight but as I was playing well i hardly hit a bad shot with any club, I was level par on the back 9 until I shoved the Mizuno into a greenside bunker and bogied the hole and eventually only dropped 3 shots on that 9 and largely because I tried the Mizzy from a little too far out on a par 5

So I'm stumped, I like the feel of the JPX but know that if I'm playing well I stonk my X2's round just fine and I've tested the new Callaway xr's and the JPX's but it's so so marginal a decision when I'm hitting fine. I like the look of the JPX's much more than the X2's they are a quality club but I'm still very unsure of what to do

C'mon Chris, the answer is quite clear and staring you in the face, buy BOTH, one set for odd days and one for evens - simples !!
