Tour Winner
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Having impulsively flogged my G20s last week, I was off to Leeds golf centre this morning for an irons fitting. I was very impressed with the setup and the instructor, Chris, was extremely helpful and accomodating.
I won't bore you with swing speeds and smash factors, but I hit 4 different irons against each other, and came away with a setup a little unexpected.
So, I hit the i20, JPX825, 712 AP1 and the G25. Didn't like the mizuno, not the looks or the feel, so put that one back. Liked the AP1 and distance was good, nothing not to like about it really. i20 felt great but looked a lot smaller than I'm used too, but catching it out of the middle was sweeeeet. Finally the G25, solid and a lot like the G20, only skinnier.
After a static fitting, then a 'dynamic' fitting, we decided on 1 degree upright and a stiff shaft. Was very surprised at the shaft having always played regular, but dispersion was better with the stiff and it didn't feel too much different in the swing.
So, in the end, it was clear to me which was the winner...stiff shaft, blue spot Ping i20's! And here she be;
