[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Having impulsively flogged my G20s last week, I was off to Leeds golf centre this morning for an irons fitting. I was very impressed with the setup and the instructor, Chris, was extremely helpful and accomodating.

I won't bore you with swing speeds and smash factors, but I hit 4 different irons against each other, and came away with a setup a little unexpected.

So, I hit the i20, JPX825, 712 AP1 and the G25. Didn't like the mizuno, not the looks or the feel, so put that one back. Liked the AP1 and distance was good, nothing not to like about it really. i20 felt great but looked a lot smaller than I'm used too, but catching it out of the middle was sweeeeet. Finally the G25, solid and a lot like the G20, only skinnier.

After a static fitting, then a 'dynamic' fitting, we decided on 1 degree upright and a stiff shaft. Was very surprised at the shaft having always played regular, but dispersion was better with the stiff and it didn't feel too much different in the swing.

So, in the end, it was clear to me which was the winner...stiff shaft, blue spot Ping i20's! And here she be;

Nice choice! I tried some yesterday, but just wasn't too sure about them. What was your swing speed out of interest. Mines 83-85 with 6 iron and I was trying the reg CFS shaft

Nice choice of club. When i was fitted with my G25 i hit both and the G25 came out top but i wished i went i20 as im striking the ball better now(well sometimes).

i was rated at 82mph but was originally fitted twith cfs in stiff due to transition and better dispersion but then found that because i was using stiff shafts rather than regulars i found myself trying to swing harder and not connecting well. Ive now changed to regular shafts and hitting comfortably with good dispersion.

Swing speed was avg. 80, but dispersion was tighter with the stiff, so we went with that.

Was the whole fitting based on the 6 iron or were you able to compare the longer irons between G25 & i20?

Was hitting 6 and 7 irons. Got a 4 iron in the set which I imagine will still be shiny and unused in 12 months time. It's a big step from my G20s to i20s, but I like everything about them and even during the fitting, when I was hitting them thin, they still went up and decent distance.

Agree with that.

Love the look of the i20's a lot. Had a swat a while back with my pros 5 iron and it went like the clappers.

Best Irons I have seen from Ping - was very very tempted

Very pretty and perhaps in time I might feel confident to have a hit with the i range...

Hope they continue to bring a smile to your face

I've got the i15's but couldn't get the i15 utility so I opted for the i20 utility after trying a demo 6 iron. If and when I change, the i20's will be top of my shopping list as they're slightly more forgiving and bullet straight.

Funnily prior to buying the i15's I'd never considered Pings but I have been swayed by the i15's as they do everything well and it's an iron I'd never outgrow.

I've had my i20s since June and I love them. Nice look and feel great.

I didn't get the 4 iron as as you expect it would be used much. I went 5 to PW and to be honest I'm hardly hitting my 5 iron.

Enjoy!

Must resist the lure of the I's. I really must. You guys are helping.... NOT. Actually having not put club on ball in over a week I don't think there is a sweetspot big enough to cope with the mess my game is in
