Yes its true, I'm not playing in wet, windy, soggy, muddy and miserable conditions. Especially since I haven't renewed my membership and do not feel obliged to justify it by playing in all weather extremes.

I played in my last comp at the end of October last year - the end of the membership season and haven't played since.
I did arrange a game to play yesterday but guess what - heavy rain all day, and windy too. Had I been a member still, I may have given it a go. I think we are going to see ever increasing wet conditions due to the climate changes and severe weather the world is experiencing.

This isn't a rant about me losing my mojo for golf, far from it. Still in love with the game but I just can't justify shelling out over £10000 chasing a handicap when, family, work and wet weather make it ever more difficult to manage. And because I didn't play as much as normal last year my handicap steadily increased rather than reduced.

I'm also not against being a member of a golf club at all - I've had over 15 years of very happy and enjoyable club membership but just not for me at the moment.
I may see how things are in the spring and see if I can find a summer membership somewhere.

PS. So look out, I may be after a game at yours very soon,

Weather permitting of course!

I am too unless it's a match or competition.

I too have not been able to justify membership, probably won't until I can take my little boy with me and leave the wife at home for chores etc.

It's at times like this that I'm chuffed I became a full member paying a monthly DD rather than a "flexible member" with my credits just sitting there un-used waiting for the better weather.
