Ok its not another post about have you got one or not but im wondering what made you make the decision to change and did you get more than 1.
I bought a Ping i15 20deg as there was a gap between my 5 wood and my 4 iron.
Now this thing is very easy to hit from any lie..
I bought it straight off the rack and i suppose that i just got lucky with the standard stock stiff shaft because it's very consistent for me.
Now here is the catch..More and more pro's seem to be sticking these things in their bags so there is obviously an advantage to them..But seeing as i can hit my 4 iron 50/50 at best im wondering should i stick in a 24 deg hybrid instead of it..

Where i struggle with the 4 iron is off the fairway or the rough..Off the tee im usually fine..
So whats the catch..And where do we draw the line to stop replacing long irons with rescues or hybrids..
Is the art of hitting a long iron starting to die?
Or is it dead?

Any thoughts?

Only got a hybrid because the set of irons I bought at the time came as 4-PW and I needed something to fill the gap. Wouldn't go back to a 3 iron now. Why make the game harder and hitting a long iron is hard for me to do well regularly enough.

Same situation for me Homer..
I wonder what people that have been playing the game for a long time will say..And the like's of Bob who could butter bread with some of his irons..No offence Bob. ;) ;)

Yep, have to agree. Hybrid all the way now! :)

I had a 3 iron in my old set and loved it. In this set I only had a 4 iron so I got the 21* 910H.

If there's one club I'd choose as a 'go to' club I'd have to say it's my hybrid at the moment. (my 3 wood a close 2nd!)

There so much easier to hit, especially out of the fringes of the fairway or light rough.

In general, a Golfer with a Handicap higher than about 10 will hit a 23/24 degree hybrid much more consistently than a similar lofted 4 iron. Ok some can't/won't get on with hybrids - that's fine. You're in the minority.
I have the 19* 910 tweaked to 19.75 and a 24* Fli-Hi - not an iron but not far off it.
You can get hybrids down to about 7 iron loft now - I don't have a real problem with this if it gets people playing and enjoying playing.
The art of hitting a long iron is dying, the fact that the majority of the Tour Pros don't carry a 2 iron, many don't even carry a 3 iron and some not even a 4 is evidence of that.
I stopped a hybrid shot on a green recently, finished 3 feet away from the pitchmark from 210 yards. It's been a long, long time since I've had a prayer of doing that with a 3 iron.

I'm hitting my 21 degree pretty sweet at the moment it's only about 20-30 yds shorter than my driver at the moment, more to do with me not hitting driver well though!! But on the last couple of rounds it's going about 180-200yds off the tee. As said why make the game harder but yes the art of long irons must be dieing out as hardly anyone I know carries one, who plays with a 2 or 3 iron now?

I'm in the minority. At least a 4 iron goes in the right direction, as opposed to a hybrid, which just "goes"... :o

i saw one in the reject bin at the gc, bridgestone j33 18 deg, with an nv shaft, hit the range and loved it, only 20 quid too, couldnt be happier with it. still have the 3i etc, cant see me going 3/4 hybrid, but like the 2 i replacement.

If you can count the MP fli-hi clubs as hybrids, that's as close as I get with my 2 iron version.

If you ever see anyone using the MP57 2 iron, stick your FLi-Hi next to it and it'll be like holding a Mini up to a BMW 7 Series. The Fli-Hi's are hollow, similar to a hybrid but made to look like an iron for Purists like us!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :p

Hehe. I'm under no illusion that the fli hi is similar in size to a true 2 iron. Dead easy to hit though. Just can't do it with big toe shaped hybrids!

How Fragger can look down on his G15's is beyond me.
No doubting their performance but they have to be the ugliest thing this side of Smiffy's underpants.....

Only reason I carry a hybrid is because Mizuno don't do 2 irons these days.I'd much rather have a 2 iron TBH, especially on a windy day.

I hit the ball too high as it is.I think hybrids just balloon. They are easier to hit though, I'll give you that.
