I've have struggled with any hybrid I have ever owned, I'm from the long iron generation and seem to have a mental block with the new hybrids, I think I try to hit them too hard and usually end up topping them so I have sold them and bought a 5 wood. This leaves me with a hole to fill in the bag. I currently carry driver, 5 wood,4-pw, 52,58 and a specialty 60 degree MD Seve hi bounce sand iron ( superb out of bunkers) plus a putter of course.
That leaves me with a hole to fill. I'd love a matching 3 iron for my Tm cb set of irons but they are hard to come by. I have an itch to get a 64 degree wedge as off my handicap I get a lot of use out of the scoring clubs. What do you think I should fill the one club gap with?

Can't see where the gap might be without knowing your yardages.

I doubt a speciality wedge would be that much more useful for you though, unless your Phil :)

You could always play a couple of rounds and see where you were most needing a club you don't have .... To honest most people wouldn't miss a club in the bag.

I'm not really bothered about a gap as such as I know my yardages with the scoring clubs. Pw 110, 52 degree 100, 58 degree 85, 60 degree when I hit it off the fairway max 60yrds. I'm thinking more of getting consistency when hitting over bunkers etc without having to open the 58 for the high flop. It wouldn't get much use probably no more than once per couple of rounds.

My bag is similar to yours but I also carry a 3 wood.

The wedges I carry are 46 pw, 50 gw, 56 sw and 64 lob wedge.

I used to carry a 60 instead of the 64 but u can just open the face of the 56 for similar results whereas the 64 is brilliant for anything around the greens or high sided bunkers

I actually meant the gaps at the other end of the bag :)

I you think you would be better off with another wedge, then by all means but personally I can't see the point in carrying so many wedges so tightly packed in lofts. Seems strange to me to have a 15 yard gap between a 52 and 58 wedge, and yet a 25 yard gap between a 58 and 60 wedge. I know higher lofts generally aren't quite so far but adding another wedge for maybe 1 shot every few rounds would be a tough one for me.

Set your bag up to suit your course, if there's a shot you get on a regular basis yet don't have a club to suit I'd opt for something like that.

Or book a trackman session, get your gaps checked and look for a gap filler where you have the biggest gap.

Looking at your bag, my guess would be between driver and 5w or 5w and 4i. I reckon a 3/4w or a 7w/3i

7 wood makes more sense to me. The gaps at the top of the bag do not worry me as much as I am not a pro and like many handicap golfers I do not tend to hit my 4/5/6/7 irons consistently as well full out as I do with the wedges so I can get 10 yrds either way with these clubs dependent upon quality of strike. I'm sure we are all familiar with this scenario.

I have a similar top end to you DB, but I find I need a club between my 4 wood and 3 iron.

Since the MP63's don't offer a 2 iron, I went for a 19* 910H.

7 wood isn't a bad shout but it really depends what suits your distance gaps and your course.

If you cant hit a hybrid then its best just leaving it unless you can hit a replacement wood. Hybrids should be easy to hit and not need a fast swing.

IMO its better to use the three goals method than a 3 wood off the deck, I leave that to the old boys who need the distance!
