After a particularly feeble day with my hybrid clubs I decided to hit YouTube tonight. After half an hour of viewing I can confirm half the pro's are adamant that you sweep, the other half that you hit down and take a slight divot.

The sweeping method is proving to give me mixed results so I am going to go to the range and try the hit down approach. For those those that do that how much divot do you aim for? I'm assuming not much but I'm interested to hear views.

I think it depends on their shape. I'm not Crossfields biggest fan but he did one one the 917 range and having tried both the 816 versions. I get on better with the h1 as per is insight.

I play mine slightly left of centre and fairly similar to the way I play my irons, probably with just more space between me and the ball.

Interestingly though I was experimenting with tee heights last week at the range and actually found I hit the ball higher straighter and further with a shorter tee (small orange ones) compared to the red tee height I had used with a previous hybrid.

I definitely get much better results hitting hybrid like an iron, but don't take much of a divot at all, much like my long irons. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

The fat sole of the hybrid will prevent the club from digging in exactly like an iron.

Just strike down. Dont expect big bubba divots to go flying in the air after contact.

I really struggle to hit my hybrids consistently well. I've tried both hitting down and sweeping and I top about a third of the shots either way. The better timed shots come from hitting down though.

i have recently bought a 3 iron and 4 iron and get a more consistent strike with these so these hybrids have been taken out of the bag. I have kept the 2 hybrid though as it's a great club for hitting low shots under branches etc.

It's mainly about ball position. Place the ball just forward of centre like a 4 iron and don't aim to make a deep divot, just a brush of the grass.
