Hi,
Could someone kindly explain which Hybrid lofts equate to which Irons. ie is 19 degrees a 3 or 4 iron? etc

Thanks,

BushFinder

Yeh, but no, but Yeh.

Off a tee, I hit my 3 iron (20 degrees) further than my 3 rescue (20 degrees).

Off the fairway, I doubt I could say the same.

Completely the opposite for me, I hit my 3 rescue (19*) around 20 yards further than a 3 iron.

I reckon that's down to the graphite shafts in most hybrids. My 3h has a graphite as its basically my 5/7 wood so I want a bit of distance but my 4h has a steel shaft so it goes about the same distance as a normal 4 iron.

Hybrids can be hard to pick, my 3 iron has 21* loft and my hybrid has 19* (its meant to be a 3 iron replacement) and they both fly exactly the same distance. I have also tried those fli-hi hybrids but it didnt really like them, seemed to be too much like a large iron rather than the proper hybrid shape.

thecraw,
What are those Fli-Hi's like?
Are they different to other rescue clubs?

Would you recomend them?

I think they are superb, they dont balloon like so many hybrids that I have tried and I love the look of them, I like the fact that the whole head is black. The shaft is excellent as well.

I am happy with them.

Hybrids with the same loft as irons should go further as they are longer.I had a 15 degree hybrid that went no where near as far as my 15.5 degree 3 wood.Same make of clubs and shafts but at least 30 yard between them.

To me it depends on the shaft. I have a 21 degree 3 hybrid Titleist 585H with an R300 steel shaft. This goes (on a launch monitor) just the same as a 3i with the same shaft. It doesn't balloon, or go excessively high, just a nice penetrating flight, but easier to middle than the iron. When I tried it with graphite, it was a 5w.
