I was about to tee off today on one of par 3's. I did my usual wristy wiggle to get the tension out of my arms when suddenly i had a click from my wrist and a shooting pain up the side of my hand. I only had 3 holes to play and it didnt happen again but it was still sore and i finished with some tentative swings obviously. Anyone else had any thing like this ?

Yes.

initially started in 2013. I'm booking in to see a consultant physio in a few weeks to sort it out.

when it went in 2013, it was immobilised for 6 weeks. Still suffer now, hence the a appointment.

If you dont mind me asking what exactly have you been diagnosed with?

No problem in asking pal.

Tendon and other soft tissue damage.

The MRI I had was inconclusive but the consultant had quite a lot of experience in this area and highlighted the issue.

It's very similar to tendinitis, but the underlying issue makes it a touch more painful.

My above to you would be to take a break from hitting balls and consult your GP.

If the area of pain is the same as mine (outside of the hand towards the little fingerand into the wrist) it takes quite a pounding playing golf so would be best to rest.

@Duncan - Belive it or not, it's been dragging on for 2 years, well just over actually. Been through several bouts of immobilisation and injection to no avail.

Hopefully the consultant physio can strengthen the area to help it heal.

I hope you can see how I took your initial post as it dragging on and you having eventually accepted it wasn't going away on its own and sort medical advice - it's a man thing (apparently) and is even more prevent in amateur sportsmen because we fear being told to stop doing our sport even for a short time.

Sadly, in most cases absolutely the opposite is the best route - and for golfers, thumb and wrist injuries are especially important as they can need complete rest for a period if they are ever going to heal properly.

I wish you well with your recovery.
