Come a long way from 'Worst Place to Live' award in 2005!

Unless the 'Culture' refers to an alternative meaning!

Hull - city of culture? You couldn't make it up.
I couldn't believe it either. All my mums family are from Hull or ULL as its known and I worked there for 5 years. Its got some lovely scenic housing estates, Bransholme and Orchard park are just beautiful

Could have been funnier.

Leicester could have won! The only city where a nuclear attack would do a billion pounds' worth of improvements.

Not had the pleasure of visiting the Scottish version but have been to the Oz version. Bit to hot in their summer but the rest of the year is glorious. Joondalup resort is a great place to play.

I live on the outskirts of Hull but work in the town so feel I should comment on this. Great for the city and hopefully might bring some much needed good publicity to the city for a change. However the issue is the people and it will never change.

I think they actually look for the towns/citys that need the most investment, the government wont do it so they give it a title and they get floods of requests in for events in that year...then its back to the u-bend after that.

Now, Now BIM. Liverpool has the best attendances for ballet, opera and such like outside of London in the UK. The difference then was Liverpool was CofC for the whole of Europe, whereas I think now they have 6 or something, so not as lofty an appeal. Good luck to Hull,I doubt it will be as big, but Liverpool's CofC was fantastic.

Well I suppose they've got to go somewhere now Anfield's not so attractive.......
