Has retired this weekend, as a full time writer. As a tribute, The Sunday Times have published his best articles from the last 20 years as a supplement in today's paper.

Some serious quality in there and a great reminder of some classic sporting moments, people, situations during that period.

Would recommend any sports fan seek these out. Probably worth an online subscription in their own right (or a 30 day free trial ;))

Hope the The Observer do something similar for the 30 odd years he worked with them.

Yeah great writer, been watching some sports programmes with him as the narrator, really good.
