Morning all

Back very late last night from the Championship Course meeting at Hoylake so too tired to boot up the computer untill this morning.

A good day on the links yesterday - I shot 82 (net 75) which was tied 3rd lowest gross and good enough to win the net by 2.

CSS was a whopping 79 so when my score is sent back to Royal North Devon I think I should get a 0.8 cut and be down to 6.4 which would be my lowest ever handicap.

Obviously very chuffed to play solid golf in what was pretty rank weather (rained for the entire round and the wind got up for about 6 holes round the turn) and around a very long course that was playing tough. The lowest gross was 78 shot from Tom Boys our 19yr old England International who is off plus 3.2

Anyway on to the important stuff - thanks to all who entered, the winner(s) are....Scobie and Smange who both predicted 82. As both said I'd have fours at the 4th and 9th (I actually had a 3 and a 4) its a play off!

First one of them to post a reply here wins the voucher

Congrats Mike. Good shooting sir. And a handicap cut more befitting your status too. Bonus.

What did you win? Would be nice to get something you're allowed to keep for a change.

:D

Well played sir.

Leading by example :D :D

At least you have got the bragging rights and should get (a little) respect from your team at GM Towers.

Yep, well played! Off the tips that is something special!

My best round ever also happened at Hoylake, but I played it in March so probably 1300 yards less than what you were playing, plus all the bunkers were, G.U.R!! But I never went into one!! I shot 76 that day, and considering I was off 15 at the time it was a bit of a shock! Would love to go back and face the real Hoylake with its teeth bared.

Hi Mike

Did I get in first with the reply??

Hope so and congrats on the great score, thats good shooting round there.

Well played

International who is off plus 3.2

On the original thread you said SSS was 75. I was unaware that CSS could be 4 shots higher. I thought there was a limit? Non-qualifying day, surely?

I have to admit I'm no mega handicapping expert - I'm just going by what is on Howdidido and new exacts have been listed so it would seem like it was a qualifier. Having been trying to get my handicap down below for best part of 5 years I'll be pretty gutted if this doesn't count!
Are there any experts out there who can confirm?

Smange you are indeed first to reply - PM me your home address and I will send you the voucher first thing tommorrow

Great shooting Mike, Carnoustie has that alot 77,78 just shows how tough it can get,the most i've seen at my place is 75 with a reduction only.

That is impressive scoring, Mike. To shoot a score like that on the full length of Hoylake and in the weather you had is something to treasure.

Well done!

Mike, where did you three putt to cost me the prize???

I knew the new club syndrome would kick in and as I said your a steady player. Congratulations on smashing your handicap.

Well done.
