Hows your Game shaping up?

I'm hopeful it will be a good first ever officially handicapped season for me...

I think, and I only think....that I've managed to fix my slice with the driver all by myself but now that I've typed up my quiet confidence on ere, it'll all go paired shaped just in time for the KoK meet next week! Initial practise rounds with my swing were promising so here's hoping... And fatting irons had suddenly become an issue but again, I think I have fixed it with some slight changes.

Our course now is open and playing to its full yardage so I'm going to be putting my first card in of the three for my handicap on Tuesday - not the best time to be fiddling with swing changes but all being well 2 rounds between now and Tuesday will help settle the nerves!

Really looking forward to this season.

Quoting myself...how self-centred, but....

I seem to have actually cured my slice with the driver! Aim straight, think straight (no more aiming left). Right foot an inch or so back (this seems to help me turn through), ball position an inch inside left heel and a concentrated effort on shoving my right hip and hand right through at impact.

Hasnt helped my 3 putting though....

Out again for 18 tomorrow, here's hoping. Small steps an all that jazz...

Hopefully just hopefully it seems in good nick ..

first medal of the year tomorrow so i guess by 2pm tomorrow i will have better idea ha ..

playing with a nice freedom of what happens happens just deal with it and make the next shot better, for now at least

well what a let down , 4 holes in a shoulder injury arises out of no where, all over my shoulder blade & shoulder socket is sore and tender , hopefully its nothing serious as ive been asked to try out for one of the teams..

just disappointed as i was looking forward to it , bit fed up

Apologies for the moan ,:(:(

I'll tell you tomorrow.

I've only played twice properly this year and was ok, all things considered. Hit the ball reasonably well, though there were a few ropey ones to be seen. Short game was poor, though, and will need some TLC before qualifiers start.

Well, I didn't get 18 in because I was out behind the winter league comp (not playing in it) and it was slooooooowwww.

So I spent some time chipping and putting around some of our greens and (this is a stupid thing to say out loud before KoKs next week) but I may have found a cure for my chipping problems. That's not to say I've discovered a silver bullet that makes everything amazing all of a sudden but I definitely found something that led to much better and more consistent contact. If I can embed it, there's hope for me yet.

Then I just need to sort out the mess that has become of the rest of my game :(

Captains drive in on Saturday, chipped in with 5 birdies and 5 pars.. three of which were 3pointers off 3/4 handicap. Finished with 40pts: 42 won it! Did manage my 1st 2 tho but just my luck 16 other lottery winners also... had my pp sunk an 18 inch birdie on the 3rd and not rolled in at 4am  might have been a different story.. Still; game seems... to be coming along just nicely ( taps head )

I seem to be shaping up ok. The long game has been better than ever, new driver and rescue have sorted that out (for the time being). Short game has been pretty tragic but it usually is at this time of year. First competition on Saturday, so hoping for a good start to the season!

Shaping Down in my case :( played the worst three games of golf this weekend since taking the sport up , feeling down :( Stupid game

I feel your pain mate, im in the same bracket. Been striping it but feel like I ran into a brick wall this weekend

Plus side is I cant really play much worse so im looking forward to getting back in the ring :D

Finally got a swing coming together, Played Friday 35 points with a few bad holes, Nett 77 (+5) Saturday in the medal and I couldn't putt to save my life and yesterday Nett 74 (+2) With 2 trebles and a double so it may FINALLY have just clicked into place, Now looking forward to getting the new clubs then I need to sort my course management out.

So far, so good. Evidence - averaging 73.8 (par 70) gross from a dozen or so rounds and been lucky enough to continue playing off the comp tees all year as usual.

The good: my game is pretty solid all round (that's my strength if anything; it doesn't vary a great deal) and I've particularly been trying to work the ball right to left more with some success. Cleveland wedges are feeling lovely and I've not been troubling myself with loads of swing thoughts.

The not-so-good: Still hitting a couple of tee shots every round without engaging the brain. Specifcally this means teeing off without really believing I've got the right club/strategy as opposed to standing there feeling confident and clear-headed (as is humanly possible). So much admiration for pro's who talk about being able to zone in every time, how the hell do you do that??!!?!

Plenty of hope for the coming months just hope opportunities come my way...

Things up until the last 2 games have been going really well.

Last 2 rounds have been a little inconsistent.

Still feel I'm moving in the right direction, albeit slower than I would like

First 3 rounds of the year scored 36, 39 and 42 points on a public course. Thought I was getting close to going round as a single figure handicapper. Joined my new club after that and oh boy what a difference. Very windy, links golf and only just beating 100 gross.

Not too shabby off the tee with the odd mistake but struggling to hit the greens in regulation in fact struggling to remember more than a couple. A couple of par 4s are out of reach as I'm not hitting fairway woods at the moment but even much shorter approaches are wayward either by not being used to the bare lies or the wind blowing what looked like a decent shot off the back.

Still loving it though I've got no doubt it will make me a much better player when I get used to it, gonna take a bit of time though.

The one thing I'm not blaming is my clubs :) I am used to taking large divots and can't do it here so I might see how it goes for a month to see if I can adapt - if not then it might be time to get my first lesson :)

Not too bad, shot 36 pts at Berkshire last week with 3 blobs on new handicap.

Met up with my friend up north on the weekend (pro at Formby Hall) and played 18 with him. Really amazing to watch a pro play and strike the ball. He had a bad day but was still 1 over for the round. Very apparent how good they are at damage limitations and can rescue a bad hole by attacking the pin on the next and getting opportunity for birdie. I feel very lucky I get to see this first hand.

Played home course yesterday and parred SI 1, 2 and 3 and then fell short with some really bad short play on many others. (My head went after the sausage sandwich at the halfway house!)

Driving better, putting solidly, just got to sort that bit out in between.
:fore:

Our opening medal is on Saturday, and it's a stableford which I'm looking forward to.

I've been hitting some good shots, I'm just lacking consistency at the moment.

Not played much over the least 3-4 months due to the weather and I am not a lover of winter golf however the new season if starting this weekend so after a few games I will be looking to chipping away at the handicap.

On the right track I think, the good is getting better, but trying hard to eradicate a sway.
