Hows your Game shaping up?

So so Murg.....
I'm at the stage now where I'm finding what works for me..... Got myself a Ping K15 driver.... Iv never driven better..... Iv played 3 comps so far and iv shot an 8 over.,. a 27 over (A bad Flu )
And last weekend o was 5 over.... Iv been asked to play for the club again this year.... This time Junior Cup which is singles matchplay for 5 handicaps as far as 9... And also in club foursomes in the Jimmy Bruen trophy.....

We had a panel meeting last night about the junior cup and point was made that you'll need to be playing roughly to a 4 or 5 handicap by the time it comes round which is in 12 weeks time so I need to start settling into my new swing and sleep with my wedges and putter......

I never really take a whole pile from winter golf anyway.... Soggy ground lumpy greens rain and cold..... it would take a machine to play really good golf this time of year....

Mine is all over the place, just no consistency apart from driving which is pretty good at the moment.

Irons are different from one round to the next, at their worst they're horrendous.
Short game needs some work as I've not been practicing it over the winter.
Putting has not been helped by playing a couple of rounds at away courses where the greens were much faster than ours, which have been very slow over the last month. They were slit and dressed a week or so back and are being cut lower so hopefully they'll be consistent soon.

I'm optimisitc but don't really have any grounds to be so, first qulaifier on 6th April so I'll know then.

Tee to green at the moment is pretty good. Although Driver is still erratic but slowly improving.
Unfortunately my new putter is misbehaving due too user error. Normally best part off my game so some work to do there!!

I am still not sure, I had a playing lesson this morning and hit everything really well, I then went out and played 18 on my own and scored really badly.

I guess I will have a better idea after the first qualifier on Thursday.

Crow you could have wrote for me as well.

Played a blinder two weeks ago but the last three games have left a lot to be desired.

I am happy with the way I am progressing, I am definitely striking the ball a lot better now but I need to cut out the total duffs which seemed to creep in a bit when I played at Lindrick especially when chipping. I know that I am at least going in the right direction. Looking forward to some qualifying comps to see how I play when the pressure is on.

Most of the game is good but the short game went to pot mainly because of stupid desicions on my part around the green.

The putting green was crap due to being spiked and the ball not staying on a true line.

Room for improvement.

Short game is a bit Iffy but if I'm hitting greens I can get away with it.my ball striking is good which Is the main thing for me.

Loved last weekend up at Silloth and Southerness and played some good stuff after not playing for a few weeks so I can't wait for the season to get going.

Everytime I see your name it's on the top of the leaderboards for any meet that the northwest arranges. Even a massive hangover can't keep you down!

I'm in good form for hitting Driver, wedge round a sub 6k yds course. But, as of next week, the tees will go back and things will be much different!

Driving & pitching have improved a lot so if I can get a few putts to drop....happy days :)

I'm having a fantastic start to the season.
Three weeks ago I knocked out the clubs best matchplay player who hasn't lost a matchplay match for over 2 years, two weeks ago won the monthly medal by 6 shots and got a nice little cut to boot then last week won the mens winter matchplay giving my opponent 7 shots winning my first board comp to boot.
Over the winter I have worked on my course management and shot selection which is starting to really show dividends now. Just a little work left on the swing and I'll be set for the season.

It wasn't a Hangover mate,it was bad cider and Karl's erratic driving ;)

I wouldn't mind playing Moor Allerton again though & not feeling like that, it was a traumatic morning :(

Very nice course pal, I really enjoyed it!

January to mid February I was really happy. Then went away for a week it all vanished! It's sublime or pants no middle ground. Finished my college course now so can put the work back in. Lesson on Monday night so that should help!

In my head and on the range, its shaping up nicely! been doing lots of putting indoor and outdoor, a fair bit of range work but very little on the course, so it could easily go either way! Need to do some more short game practice, so will be up at the club as and when i can for an hour at a time, we have a nice short game area. then i just need some game time! If i can get out on the course consistently, i think i could play some half decent golf this year, if its once a month its going to be lucky to keep to my current handicap!

Only as good as your last game and so putting the mighty RickG to the sword would seem to show I'm in fine fettle. I even managed to up and down a few times and make a few decent putts. Of course it'll be back to normal in the roll up especially as feeling like the onset of a cold bug and feeling crap

You certainly have a way of linking all your posts to your one good round of the year.
Im now expecting a cut of some sort in the very near future.
