How would you play this hole?

455 yard par 4. 255 yards to clear the ditch....so go long and leave a 4/5 iron in. Come up short and leave a 200 yard hybrid/wood in. Come up short and play two 100 yard wedge shots?

There is a pond short of the green, bunkers both sides and a massive heathery bank behind.

255 yards to carry the ditch, This thread will be interesting

With my handicap I'd lay-up short and play 3 to green since I'd probably not stop a long second shot.

my driver should come up short of the ditch. long approach. seems safe enough left and right. will have enough that the water shouldn't be in play.

chances are I am smashing my 22 hybrid for the 2nd shot. nice and high over the water. ill probably turn it over and miss left.

Lay up 7 iron just short of the ditch. 9 iron over the pond to about 2ft. Kick in birdie.

Back on planet earth. Driver short of ditch lay up before pond. Pitch on and no worse than 2 putts hopefully.

Tough one I think. The ditch is clearable to me so the obviuos thing would be hit the driver and probably leave 6/7i. But in a medal round I think it would definatly be a lay up leaving myself with a 4i/hybrid to be honest.

How would I play it or how should it be played? Two very different questions. I would smash my driver into the ditch, drop out, duff my third into the pond, drop again, pull my wedge left of the green, chip on and 3 putt for a 9. I probably should hit 3 wood off the tee then two short irons and hope to 2 putt for a 5 but where's the fun in that?

With my current game plan A would be to lay it up close enough to the ditch with a view to hitting a 3 or 4 iron in from there, plan B would see a bad tee shot and trying to lay it up short of the lake in 2 lol

My Sunday best drive of 230, leaving my 25 yards short of the ditch, leaving 225 yards to the green.

Depending on conditions, I'd probably play my 19° hybrid and try and miss towards the back of the green. If I miss left (usual miss), I've taken enough club to take the water out of play.

Ideally 3 wood, hybrid. If there is a mound at the back of the green then you are safe long so just hit whatever your sure is enough club to get up there.

Depends on the day and the round.

Nothing to lose in Stableford / knock then probably take a driver over the top and hope to clear it with a good one, or come up short with a poorly hit one.

In a medal or a match, probably a 3 iron to leave around 210 and then a high floaty hybrid thing which should have more than enough legs to carry the pond.

Wind into, a driver and then a hybrid/3wood. Would back myself to carry the pond and would prefer to try and make 4 from just off the green in a bunker/rough than from 100 yards back.
