How would you improve your course ?

Without buying more land to make the course longer or spending shed loads on relaying the greens what would you do to your course to make it better ?

Our course lacks definition around the greens and trouble short of them, would add a lot of bunkers and a few water hazards too

in all seriousness our course isnt bad for a pay & play, id just like them to offer full day memberships to a restricted number of people and used the money just on a general tidy up. the worst thing i think they have done is leave the full tee boxes in play all winter, now the spring is here their hanging and in need of serious love.

The only thing my course needs is perhaps better sand in the Bunkers, although having said that, our new Greenkeeper has made them all significantly better just by heavily raking them etc, something which seemed to be neglected by previous greenkeeper.

He's also experimenting with relaying some of them, and considering the time of year, and the fact that our course rarely 'bloom's' until early May, its looking fabulous already, with striped fairways and tees, and fast greens to date.
We're all really excited for the course for this summer, and after a few years of mediocre attention, this guy has really got his teeth into it.

Cant wait.

Consistant bunkers (depth of sand, condition etc) and a path between the 15th green and 16th tee.

I'd also make it 10 miles closer to my house

Yep bunkers for me to. There is already a programme in place to improve the tee blocks.

There are about 6 or 7 holes where another tee could go in to make it a very stern test indeed. It would add about 300yards but still keep the par of 70. I'm pretty sure that the SSS would go up to 71 with the added yards.

Enlarge the current teeing grounds to allow more movement and so keep their condition better for longer.

Increase the playing area of the new bunkers and increase the depth and lips on them.

id add a water feature to Bath GC, that would be great in summer and would add to the already great scenery!

Put in some more fairway bunkers on some of the par 4's to make you think about the tee shot a bit more. They are actually in the process of doing this (and also adding in some more trees) so should be an improvement.

Is a new course so sometimes it looks very open when you're stood on the tee.

In great nick after the winter though, looking forward to the spring/summer I must admit.

More fairway bunkers, new tees where 10-15 yards can be added.
Also the natural route of water coming off a hill at the side of 18 would be a perfect place for a ditch/water feature to be placed across the fairway in front of the green. It would make the hole much harder Par 5.

We're a par 71, SS 69 with that usually coming down a shot most competitions. The course needs a bit of toughening up to get the SS up a shot or 2.

Get rid of the greenkeeper he's a muppet he's a member of a local course which is a bog and shut alot and he has this mentality which he brings to our place which ain't no parkland course.

Homebase has got 20% off gardening products tomorrow so I might pop down and pick up a packet of grass seed for the tees and maybe a few bags of sand without boulders in.

Water features , rivers, a pond and a burn crossing the lower half of our clay soil based course.
Our course has no water features and suffers n the winter from it. We have done brilliant work in buying our own teen hong equipment which makes adding new drainage easy and is used by our own staff saving loads of hire fees.

More bunkers.

We only have 5 (or 6!). Most of the land is leased from a big Hotel nearby and they wont allow bunkers on their bit. So there's bunkers on precisely 4 holes!

The rest is ok. Maybe extend a couple of holes but there's a limit as to how far they can move tees. Some of the cross-ditches don't really come into play unless you hit a topper.

We have 2 par 5's where they've split the fairway in half (across-ways) with rough. Apparently it's to stop the bombers making the par 5's too easy but all it really does is stop shots from high handicappers - get rid!

I'd make Longhirst GC Lakes course narrower. I think it's too wide for a championship course, even with all of the water
