I have a Clic Gear trolley that I had not used for a few years as I was using my electric trolley. One of my playing partners had is trolley damaged in the trolley store room and so I loaned to him. That was over 2 years ago now. He has since bought himself a matching cart bag, ditched his carry bag and treats it like it were his own. He even gave me a bottle of wine as a thank you. The problem is that I am starting to get the impression that it was a thank you for giving him the trolley not lending it to him. I have not really minded and it has not been an issue as I have not been using it and it would only sit in the shed.

Skip forward to now and there is a problem with my electric trolley. I had to hire a push trolley last week but my playing partner made not mention of perhaps me wanting my trolley back. In fact he said nothing.

I am now in a position whereby I may want my old trolley back, at least until I get round to shipping my electric one off for repair. So, how would you approach it?

leave it! move on, you've not wanted it for 2 years.............he thanked you with wine, he's a mate. Chalk it up to experience

I think this is when you should have mentioned it Greg , id be under the same thoughts as yourself it was his thank you for giving him the trolley .. you should have mentoned it or reminded him it was only a loan there and then , or even passed some comment when he got the cart bag ,,
I think its down to a bad experience as a result of being too a nice guy mate

I think as has been hinted at above, action time may have been before now.... That said I do agree you cant just say goodbye to a quality trolly for a bottle of wine so its going to have to be a "sorry buddy, there has perhaps been a bit of a misunderstanding"

He is your friend, he will understand!

So sorry but this is freakin hilarious, had to double check the date ! :D

Once I got over it I do hope you get it sorted out but not going to hold my breath on an easy outcome

Next time you see him just mention that your struggling for a trolley since your other has bust. If he doesn't take that hint buy him a bottle of wine and tell him thanks for looking after it

If this person is your mate and had a conscience they should have offered it back to you by now.

Just tell him you need your trolley back whilst yours is in for repair...after which you'll LOAN it back to him :-)

If it will ruin a good friendship though then just leave it as it is and don't make the same mistake again with him!

I'm with the others that reckon it's just been left too long..
In a similar boat with a mate - lent him my old PK 3 pusher about 8-9 months ago for his daughter - not really expecting it back though and we have done ea h other plenty of favours down the years
Maybe next time you need a favour tell him he owes you one..

Just say, "I need my trolley back for a few weeks whilst my one get's repaired mate. You can have it back afterwards if you still need it". He will obviously think you are a phallic shaped object, but it will probably lead to him either saying, "oh, I thought you had given it to me?!" or "Oh OK..." and pull a sad panda face.

Yep!

ask for it back. a decent friend would have offered you £100 notes for it if he wanted to keep it or would have enquired about paying for it purely out of guilt.

if he gets upset. give him a bottle of wine. cracked over the top of his head.

Next time he gets it out of the back of his car - "I've been looking for that for ages. Forgot I'd LOANED it to you."
