Say for talking sake a major tournament was played at your home course with all the top players in the world attending, how do u think the would do?

Well mine is quite a short course, a 5504 yard par 68. No par 5s, 4 long par 4s, and 4 long-ish and difficult par 3s.

I think they'd be at least 4 or 5 under.

They'd struggle to par our stroke index 1 par 4 5th, and have loads of trouble with the 2nd shot.

They'd do well to be under par over the 4 par 3s. All over 176 yards.

They'd have a couple of eagle chances tho, with some short par 4s.

I'd love to see this happen although there's absolutely no chance of it at all.

But imagine if say, all the courses in the UK were in a raffle type thing, and one course was picked at random every year it would be a popular event and loads would tune in to see the greats of the game playing random courses.

Whats everybody else's opinion on this?

Have a look at the scores on the Jamega tour. They play many 'regular' courses. Whilst they might not give the true representation of the very best of the European Tour or PGA Tour they are at least a much better representation of what a pro can do.

You are wrong. They would eat it alive and probably score 59. Our course is as tight as a gnats chuff but years ago Gary Emerson shot 60 during a pro am. One year I played in our pro am with Andrew Sherborne and he made scoring a 65 look easy. Par is 70. The top top pro's are seriously good.

They go round 7000 yard courses in 7 under just for fun.

They would take mine apart most likely........but if that wind picked up coming in off the sea.......well.......they would still tear it up! :)

Our course is just over 6600 yds and pretty open. If the greens had any moisture in them and were receptive then Id expect a round in the very low 60s, if they are baked solid in the height of summer then Id expect nothing much lower than 64 or 65

there are plenty of ams playing off +4 etc. so they are giving the course 4 shots before they start. just think what a pro can do.

they regularly shoot 5under and better around monster long courses. a 5500 yard course would be pitch and putt stuff for them.

they are that good!

Whinhill your @ isn't it Lydo?

55 easy for the Pro's probably less.

The top pros would tear apart most "normal" courses

The PGA Pros not so as witnessed in many pro Am's over the years

I think a lot depends on how firm your greens are, I use to be a member of a tight course with proper hard greens I know pros/+ hc golfer didn't like it because they couldn't tear it up. Softer greens and it's birdie land for them.

I'm confident that a touring professional could comfortably shoot in the 60s around Omagh (par 71) with a 3 iron being their longest club, they are in a different league

Top pros would be within spitting distance of most par 4's after there tee shot,on the courses we play on.just think the greens we play on would be too slow compared to what they use too.

Apparently Faldo played at our course as part of the opening day for it and on the 10th a 526 par 5 that plays at least 30 yards uphill for the tee shot hit 2 iron then 5 iron on to the green and that was over 20 years a go.

i dont think we'd see as rash of rounds in the 50s but certainly plenty of 62s and 3s id reckon.

Think most pros would have no trouble with most of our courses, they are that good and the length would mean they would have a birdie chances on most holes.

Few years ago Roland Rafferty played our course, think he was writing a book about courses in the UK, flew in on a private jet ( airstrip next to course) played a round had dinner and flew out again. He never kept a score but you could tell he would have shot at least 4 under. But as ours is a links course and is very exposed, if it were windy I would think he would struggle to break par.

We have a new pro who's on one of the tours, on a still day off standard whites his best score is -5 gross, but on a day like yesterday his own words are he'd be lucky to break par....

Couple that with the fact that several years ago we had black tees put in for a euro tour that add over a thousand yards to out course, coupled with the remodelling I think it would hold up pretty well. I reckon an average of -3/-4 off the blacks would be about right,

Aye the whinny mate, defo not 55, but Im a good bit out with 5 under thinking about it now. Around 60 maybe 59 is probably a bit more like it.

Course record is 61 so Rory on form and putting well lol

Obliterated!

May find out the answer to this in a couple of months, Russell Knox will be over for the Scottish Open and will probably have a knock round his old stomping ground, will walk it with him if he does
