.....on the Inter web thing.
I've had problems with my internet connection for the last 5 days ranging from very slow connection speeds and long periods of no connection at all.
It made me realise how much I use the internet.
Whether its social networking, buying or selling, booking tee times, GM forum etc etc etc, how much would you miss the Internet if it was suddenly switched off?

If the 'leccy was ever cut off for more than a day the majority would curl up and die........
We're far too reliant on everything electrical - makes life easier but think what you can't do when the 'leccy's off.....

I work from home. Everything from dispatching jobs to my engineers, storing repair and service records, invoicing... all synchronised through 'our' server in Germany. If my home BB goes down I use a 3G 'dongle' but it isn't quick. If I was without that option, work would be difficult but at least there is the option of BT-wifi.

The bigger loss would be if the works laptop crashed.

Socially, I use my laptop loads... its either that or watch Strictly come Corrie/enders. Yep, I need my lappy.

Last month our telephone and broadband suddenly dropped, no-one else in the street were affected. Felt like the right arm had fallen off.

In total the phone line was down for 8 days but had no broadband for 13 days...it was hell, I had to have conversation with HID every night...

And as for BT, oh dear. The worst customer experience I've ever encountered.

I'd be lost. Keep meaning to back-up more to offline just incase.

Prime example was last year I lost it in November for a few days due to a problem with the phoneline.

No problems I thought. I'll watch some TV. Nothing on TV so booted the Xbox up. Oh dear no online gaming or netflix. Tried a few single player games but it just didn't fill the hole left by BF3.

Then I thought I'd tie up some fishing flies. Damn it all the patterns I had been researching to try were online. Hadn't saved them.

Ended up having to talk to HID!!!

Moving into a new build in December which is allegedly wired for Virgin. Desperate to get it all in and working especially with Christmas a week after we move in. Could be without anything if plans go astray and heading to the in laws to watch the stock TV shows on Chrimbo day.
