Going on from the headcovers thread and the differing opinions people have on looking after their kit, how often do you clean your clubs?

Personally, i clean every club after every shot before the club goes back in the bag, even if its just a quick wipe to remove grass or if its a decent rub with the towel and spit to get rid of mud and stuff from a divot.

If i tee off 1st on a hole i'll stand waiting with a tee and clean the grooves on whatever club I have in my hand and my putter always gets cleaned after each putt on the green.

Then once every 6-8 weeks the full lot come out of the bag and get a proper good clean.

I cant stand seeing dirty clubs in someones bag!!!

Just a wipe down with a towel and a quick scrape with a tee to get the dirt out of the grooves when on the course.

Once I am back home I clean the clubs after every round before putting them away. I hate starting a round with dirty clubs. Plus I change my gear so often at the moment it helps to keep it in good nick for resale value.

Clean mine after every shot like you said. I then get home and give them a thorough clean with a brush and soapy water to have them shining like new!!

I'm much the same. Generally the clubs get a spring clean every couple of months but I use a groove cleaner and towel before every shot. I never understand how someone can look down on a mud-encrusted club and expect a good shot! However, cleaning the clubs after every round is a bit anal in my opinion..

I agree, if you give your club a wipe after every shot and also clean the grooves on a regular basis, cleaning your clubs after every round is just a tad too much like Monica off Friends :D

clean them after every shot and a good clean up every week, and just like madandra i play much longer after they have been polished......well i seem to.

Usually a good clean once a week, always wipe them and remove any mud or grass after a duff shot so that is just about evey time i put a club back in the bag. ;0)

It depends on how often I'm playing. I'll clean the head after every shot and I'm pretty meticulous about making sure the grooves are clear of any mud or grass. If I've been playing or practicing during the week as well as the weekend I'll clean the grips every week to get rid of sweat and mud that builds up and give the club head a good wash. Otherwise if I'm only playing at weekends I'll clean the grips twice a month. However if I'm in a big event (GM forum day, club match, big club competition) they'll get the full treatment so I can walk onto the 1st tee with a bright shiny set of clubs and feel positive about my game

Quite frankly this is a subject covered not long ago.

Try & keep my kit clean as I go along, use tee, brush & clean towel to keep grooves & club through rounds.

I certainly used to give Irons & woods a full clean with water upon my return home, but this full clean only happens every so often at the moment & especially before an important game.

The staff at the course clean the clubs after the round :(

I pick any dead frogs I might have hit out of the grooves as I go along.

Generally my clubs come back to me better than when I turned up :p

I'm sensing this might be a problem.... I need some new clubs anyway and I promise I'll look after them next time :D
