I am absolutely gob smacked! brought a bottle of water at my home course £1.40!!!!!

Are all golf clubs charging extortionate prices for bottles of water that you can buy 12 of for £2 at Asda, or is it just Marriott?

Dunno, I fill old bottles with tap water. But then I'm lucky as our tap water actually tastes alright. If I lived in the lake district where I was on holiday last week I'd be happy to pay £1.40 for a bottle because the stuff that comes out of the taps up there is awful!

Seems a bit steep, its £1 at our place and £1.30 for Lucazade sport/coke etc. Hotel chain prices are always a bit dearer i suspect its the same in the bar.
On the other hand if you stop in a garage on the way to the course it will be of similar price.

Unless I forget to grab one I have a stash in the garage of bulk buys. I usually take 2 out with me.

I have forgotten a couple of times recently, £1 a bottle at my course.

£1.20 in our pro shop, but I buy mine from Morrisons £2 for a dozen bottles. Chuck a couple in fridg nigt before playing and good to go. If I want to jazz it up a bit I get the 5 for £1 flavoured sparkling waters, its very rock and roll when you open a bottle of pear & elderflower water on the first tee:o

Mind you Marriots are always dear, played Tudor Park a while back as its 5 minutes from my club and it cost me £18 for 3 pints and a coke! Talk about open wallet surgery! I was going to order a ham & cheese sandwich but the fact it was a few oence shy of a fiver put me off!

Get mine at Costco. Kirkland own brand, 36 bottles for about £3. Same for Eat Natural nut bars when I remember, 20 for £9 as opposed to £1.40 each at the pro shop. I don't object to buying in the pro shop if I have to, they have to make money, and have limited footfall in comparison to a regular shop, but if I want to save money, I'll buy before I go.

Ok it's a bit steep but I wasn't Gob smacked by it. It's like the price of a can of coca cola from a petrol station compared to multi packs from supermarket.

supply and demand. You pay it, they'll charge it.
Completely true, If you are so disorganised and don't bring your own then they are going to charge you a premium. Its all about supply and demand. Its actually the only way pro shops make any money these days on drinks and snacks.

It's a real shame that pro's feel the need to charge that much for (basically) something that comes out of the tap in the kitchen, and I'd prefer to support club pro's but when I can go to the supermarket and pick up a dozen pack for the same price as he's selling a single bottle, he really is pricing himself out of the market!

Fuel is "only" £1.35.9 per litre that means that I'd be paying nearly twice as much for water as I would for diesel!

It is a bit steep but it is worth it if people pay for it.

Everyonce in a while I will need extra water (like this weekend when it was 28 degrees) but typically I carry a litre bottle of sparkling water. Makes the bag heavy mind!

We also have 2 water fountains to drink from on our course, the one on the 7th tee is perfectly placed but the one on the 13th is a little over to one side well off the fairway and isn't usually on my line of walking ;)

Do you have water on-tap on your course?
