How much would you pay to play Augusta ?

Additionally who would you want to make up your Fourball. I would have Tiger, Sergio Garcia and Natalie Gulbis. Not too sure how long my concentration would last with her watching my every move or vice versa!

Perhaps G M could arrange this for next year!

If you ever got the chance it would probably be for free anyway... as it would be a member's invite, eh? Most are millionaires who would no doubt sign you on without asking you to put your hand in your pocket, I'm guessing.

Not sure, I guess if I was rich, what ever it took. But I am far from it so with travelling expenses etc it would have to be a short trip. Everything in I would be willing to pay as much as I would for a weeks holiday. About 400 quid

Assuming i was playing well i would pay upto £1500, given time to save. Money being no object i would probably pay towards £2500 and any more would have to be to a charity donation as i don't believe anymore would be justifyable. I think Sawgrass do some sort of day long progrm with a caddy and lessons for about $1500. A round costs about $200-300 i think.

The problem is for that sort of money there are plenty of rich people to keep it booked all the time.

partners Mickelson, Mediate and my dad. This way i wouldn't come last.

A grnad to play 18 holes of golf? Are you's mad or drug dealing to afford that?

I'd love to play Augusta but as long as price is sensible which it never will be. £100 max I'd pay to play any course.

Andy

I would happily pay upwards / around £300-£400 quid given my current financial position. £1,000 would never be realistic unless I was a millionaire in which case I would most definitely pay it- currently though I would laugh off the offer of a round of golf for that sort of money.

No idea really....

BUT, if I was in the area, and bumped into a member who said "I can get you on, though I can't play that day" (not that that would happen!!) I guess I'd not have to think for £200-300-ish. Might be a struggle to justify a grand!! :D unless I was minted and £900 of the fee was going to charity or something.....

I don't think I am good enough to enjoy it. I watch it making a fool of some of the world's top pros and think it would murder me!
I would just get so frustrated.

I agree that I'm probably not good enough to get any joy from playing it other than the kudos. I'd pay around £500. Now were I to get a place (or freebie) then I'd get Tiger, Paula Creamer and Lee Westwood to play.

I understand what people are saying about paying £X to play and in particular Wentworth looking for £285 in high season to play the West course (£160 Edinburgh and £130 for the New) is a joke. The West course in my mind is one thats great on the golfing CV but isn't actually that great a test.

The question is: Under this scenario, are we paying to play off the Masters' tees, or off the Members' tees? The course as played by the regular members can't be anything like as testing as the Masters set up. Am sure the members wouldn't be coughing up their thousands of dollars to score in the hundreds every week, and am sure they are not all scratch golfers. Or are they?

If I had the dosh to pay for Augusta, then I'd prefer to spend it on playing several rounds at other courses

I am normally very tight when it comes to cost of a round anywhere, though I would be prepared to pay more for the top courses, but Agusta is an elitist club where normally only the invited get to play, no matter how wealthy. Agusta makes an awful lot of money from golf and golfers, not forgetting prestige and status from the game, but its one of the few that dont return anything to golf by way of letting golfers play there in the way other top courses do.
It may host one of the biggest majors and have a lot of history and interest and be one of the most beautiful and challemging courses, but getting to play there is beyond the vast majority of golfers around the world, not the case with the rest of the top courses. I would love to play there for sure, but I wont lose any sleep if I dont, there are plenty of top courses to get real satisfaction from without it. :D
