How much has your swing changed this year?

I've always said that one of the reasons that I enjoy playing this stupid game is because I want to develop and get better and better.

I have come down from 18 to 11 this year and have come across that eureka moment a few times when you think you've nailed that missing element to make the ball finally go straight and long!!

So back to the original question, I think that I have changed about 4 things with my swing this year:-
*Swing path
*Backswing length
*Trying to eliminate elongated pause at top
*Weight transfer

I think that most of us strive to get better, (or are you a get down and bladder it guy?) and its very satisfying when you get the results from the practice and research that we do, or dont!

Haven't changed anything. Only change I can recall over the past ten years is a gradual weakening of my grip to compensate for a dislocated elbow that healed up in a slightly different position to its original.

I have made a particular effort to slow my swing down this year. The effect is particularly evident with my driver. I’ve lost a bit of distance, but I slice and duff a lot less, and hit a lot more fairways. No point whacking the ball only for it to end up in the farmers field :D

Better weight transfer, shortened backswing, better shoulder turn, less wrist break, more dynamic hip turn to trigger downswing.... all leading to about a club extra distance through the irons, and much more consistent flight and direction. All under PGA pro's supervision. Pretty happy with the year's progress.

Still a way to go to Cat 1 where I'm aiming, but I'm confident this is the basis of the swing that will get me there.

Slower back swing
Swing path - gone from flat/around the body, to a much higher, tidier swing.
Weaker grip

Results have been more consistent scoring, but still not getting the sooring I feel my work has deserved - it will come in time though.

I'd like a period of a few years where I don't tinker with anything.

Yep, mine for the worst.

My poor shots were going left, not all the time but enough to put me off my stride.

Couldnt figure it out, kept percevering with it hoping it would sort itself out. Nope got worse and worse as the year went on.

Played the semi final in a matchplay a couple of weeks ago and got hammered by a +2 h/cap 6&5 :o. We played the rest of the holes out and i commented that i sometimes struggled a little with the ball going left. He was a gent and we had a good natter. He was on about the swing being margins of errors and said my grip was a tad strong and stance a tad closed.

Bloddy heck, changed grip to more neutral and stance more square. Bang, wallop straight down the middle again.

Jeez, dont underestimate the value of a mid season lesson/checkup.

For the 1st time in as long as I can remember it hasn't changed much at all, which means I think very little about it during a round, which in turn means I'm a lot more consistent. This consistency means I've only had 5 0.1s in comps all year, shoot in the 70s more often than the 80s and am on the brink of a single figure h'cap - at last.

Worked hard on compressing down more and it is getting better. The only thing left to do is work on losing my spine angle on the way down but to be honest its getting to the point where it is what it is now and I'll be just trying to keep it ticking over during the winter. On my bad days its still a cacophony of too many moving parts but sometimes, even though I got beat, it seems very simple like it did at Caversham on Saturday. I think if I can stop losing spine angle that will be the end of tinkering.

I feel like mine changes every week, and not intentionally.

I'd like to get rid of the sway I have, losing spine angle, and throwing my hips towards the target.

Every now and then I intentionally try to change something, it works for a few rounds then turns to doodoo again, when I go back to something else that used to work!
