hi guys how much does it cost you to play in your club comps ours is now £4 as last summer it was £3 but as the pro was skint he decided to put it up does that mean i can now tell him im skint so can i pay £2 just gets on my nerves yes its only a quid but in summer i play in the 3 comps a week we have

£2 except the monthly medal which is £5 but obviously has a much larger prize fund.

£2.00 for comps, of which 60% is given as voucher prizes as well as whatever trophy/medal etc is being played for
£1.00 for 2s on an occassional basis.

At the moment it is £2 entry and £1 for the 2s but if there is any change I would not exepct to see it until the season starts. I would be quite annoyed at any increase as comps are a bit of a tax on keeping a handicap as the club only normally accepts competition cards so if you want a handicap you have to pay to enter comps and if you want to get it down, you have to pay regularly

Is this for the sweep & 2's sweep ? If so they're voluntary aren't they ?

If it's a fee to actually enter a competition, rather than a voluntary sweep, I'd be looking elsewhere. Just what do your extortionate fees cover down there ?

Totally agree, pretty much every club I know charges a fee to enter comps. If you want to take part you have to pay, if you want to keep a handicap you have to pay to enter at least 3 and if you want to work on your handicap you have to pay most weeks. Basically you effectively add another £100 on to your fees.

So long as you win most of it back it's not too bad!

Due to commitments I could only enter 10 midweek compas last year. So it cost me £35 to enter and I won about £70 back....

homer what is the ball sweep if you dont mind

The 2's sweep and the ball sweep are both voluntary and over and above the mandatory £3 entry. In the 2's anyone getting a gross 2 on their card wins a share of the pot (a hole in one takes the whole kitty). The ball sweep is nothing more than getting a raffle ticket from the pro and if your number is pulled you win a sleeve of Pro V's
