How many putts do you take on average per round?

For me it depends on how big the greens are. On the pga you can be left with a 60 yard putt so I would say I get around in about 35/37. On the derby with small greens about 30/32
 
Funny this, I was going to pop a post about putting tonight.

I am normally between 34-36 ppr.

Today I managed 37 putts with two three putts and should of had a few more one putts, at the moment missing inside six to three feet is killing me. Managed a 5th in the medal today but sadly feel I should of been nearer the top I must of had six putts inside six feet and I cannot think of one I holed.

Well practice practice practice I guess

I am decent inside 6 feet and my distance control on long ones is Ok too but 6-10 foot is a guaranteed 2 putt! Have been using the Ping App to practice which I've found quite useful.

But it all depends on how many greens you hit and how good your short game is and isn't totally relevent anyway
You could hit all 18 greens, take 2 putts so come off with 36 putts but you've shot level par
Or you could hit no greens, chip close enough for 1 putt, take 18 putts and shoot level par....

I fear I would need something other than an abacus, Perhaps something that deals in large numbers and could withstand being beaten with a recalcitrant putter wielded by an inept golfer.

That said today's round included only 35 putts.

Impressed? You bet I was!

I know what you're saying. According to said app i hit 51% of GIR this year...
 
Usually low 30's. I think my stats for the season have me a shade under 32.

I've had a tweak to my stroke in my last lesson. I'm hoping to get this down to, ideally, 29-summink by the end of next season.

Makes up for my shoddy driving :mad:
 
Worst putting round this year = 34.
Best..................................= 20.

Average.............................= 28.64

The site I use for stats has got me mid/late teens h'cap tee to green but on or around scratch for short game.
 
this year according to my SkyCaddie I average 1.5 putts per hole

I've won a couple of golden putter comps at my old club, one year I won with 24 putts and another year I won with 25 putts, the year in between I had my best return and had 23 putts - but came 3rd

I spent the whole round trying to come up just short of the green and trying to chip close
 
As Imurg says, it has to be seen in relation to Gir's. With 51% hit I would estimate you should be taking 27-28 putts, right?

I had 31 putts yesterday (decided to count them) and I putted like Ray Charles, having said that I didn't hit many greens neither

I'm aiming to bring the putts down to 30 as a first target. GIR on the up as-well......
 
36 on a good day.

But I don't keep stats so no idea as to best and worse. How do you guys find the time (and inclination) to keep track of the no. putts you have per round???
