I follow a lot of golf clubs not only in my immediate area but countrywide also and the constant Tweets of "Course Closed" is quite alarming.

How many days has your course been closed this season, taking a typical season so far as April 2013 to March 2014 (current day).

Whilst we can do little about the weather, although we do seem to be having wetter more intense rain lately, are you disappointed that the same areas on your course are constantly flooded every year and if so is enough being done in those specific 'hot spots, so to speak?

Before I joined Kenilworth there was already a drainage plan in progress and I have seen it expand over the last 2 years whilst I've been their and they have concentrated on those area's that consistently flooded. Due to this targeted work, so far we have only been closed 1-Day to date which I think is amazing and with No Temporary Greens :whoo:

What's your story?

Only the one and that was due to the horrendous winds when it was too dangerous to be out. There has been one hole that has often had a temp green although we had a few temps due to heavy frost last Sunday early morning although these were lifted as the frost melted.

I'm not sure we've been fully closed at all this Winter so far.
The back 9 has been closed on and off though -but at least the front has stayed open.
I'm down there today so I'll enquire...

You need to add an option for zero closed days. :)

Hmm, I did know that some courses, especially links or heathland courses built on sand may have escaped but usually they still may have had to address some part of their course, whether it be temps, mats to protect fairways or partial closure (specific hole/s).

Just looking for a general consensus and to see if any part of the UK has been affected greater than others or if its pretty widespread.

Because a course is protecting its fairways is nothing to do with closure IMO. More a greenkeepers plan to protect and improve the course.

Anyway as has been said zero so far.

Add a Zero choice to the poll please.

Course closures, no idea. Probably quite a few.

Course closures that have directly affected me (... Not able to play)...... One.

I know my local track was closed yesterday, but is open again today.

Since last April, I think we had a covering of snow one morning during April, but a dry summer and autumn didn't cause any problems and even now, we've coped with the rain we've had very well.

Ours has very rarely been closed and never on temps / mats, however there were a few days with the snow last year it probably was.

In truth, I played yesterday and it's very wet underfoot and a few more days of rain it could struggle. We had an email from Course Manager yesterday which informed us that the course had been rained on every day since December 10!!!!

Zero days closed for us too.

Been on winter tee's since the beginning of December which is the norm and the course has been measured for winter tee's so still qualifying. We've had a few days on temp greens and one hole was shortened owing to a huge fallen tree.

no closures to my knowledge, but 1 competition was cancelled in may. we were on 18 temps last weekend for the first time this winter thanks to heavy frost. week to week probably averaged 2-3 temps tops over the winter which is fine given that normally its full temps for dec-jan and a bit of feb. summer in edinburgh was terrific, only 2 or 3 days of heavyish rain, and pretty much dry and pleasant the rest of the time.

We've been closed quite a bit during the week but as luck would have it that's also when my boss likes me to be at my desk (on the forum) but as yet I've only missed 1 Saturday's golf (open again on the Sunday) through weather this season!

We've been closed for one afternoon (the day of near hurricane force winds in December?) - However I turned up to play at 2pm and was allowed to go out as the wind had dropped - there was a fair bit of debris from nearby trees scattered around the course - rain drains away at our place and snow doesn't really lie for very long either.

Having said that it's pretty foggy today - could be an adventure when I head out for nine holes this afternoon
