How Long To Fix?

How long would you expect your Club Pro to take to fix a snapped shaft? IE Purchase replacement shaft and fix.

it depends on what manufacturer of shaft. nippon are appalling when it comes to delivery times. once he has the components most take 24 hours as they like the glue to set properly. however, i have been using 3 minute glue today

If its something common like a Dynamic gold I would expect it done within the week. Depends entirely on the availability of the shaft, the actual process of of reshafting is quite simple with a steel shaft and steel head.

Go on, how long has it been so far ?

14 days now.

Snapped clean off after hitting the ball off the tee. As I followed through the shaft felt very light and I ducked. It took me 30 minutes to find the head, buried deep in the ground 20 yards away.

Mmmmmm. He's a young lad who has known nothing different from working in a Pro shop. He got down to -4 turned Pro just as our Pro was nicked from us, so automatically was given the job. He has never experience a boss, or more to the point fellow workers, ripping strips off him for not doing his job correctly. He's just annoys people with his attitude. God knows how he is still there. Some of our ladies want him out. Proper battle axes at our place some of 'em!

But you're supposed to support your Pro.

why is it that golf is the only industry thats says this. your not supposed to support anyone. they support themselves with good service, good teaching and competitive prices. if they fail to deliver they struggle. same as the local sandwich bar!!
I've seen golfers pay £4 more for a box of balls so they can support a pro!!! ridiculous.

Ditto

I cringe every time somebody uses that phrase

Club pros do a lot more than just sell equipment, especially in a private members club. They give lessons, help out with the running of competitions, capt/pro challenge, play in pro-ams along with members etc etc.

They can't afford to do the job if you don't support them but it is your choice whether or not you do so. If yours' leaves and you can't get a decent lesson without travelling for miles then so be it.

I'm very fortunate as both my clubs have very good pros who really go the extra mile.

Agree with this principal - I'd get most things from large retailers but would try and buy some things from the pro shop to support it or else it'll go.
However for this particular case the guy sound hopeless, press him to get it done then dont go back in future. I can reshaft a club in 20 minutes (once I have sourced and gathered shaft, epoxy, new grip, ferrule, blowtorch, shafting beads etc), with his specialised kit he could do it in 10 minutes.

Agree
A good pro is a great asset, and worth their retainer

The pro described above isn't
So why support them blindly.....??

Support those that deserve it
Bad service is bad service in any walk of life

Would you continue to go to a local restaurant that served up dog drool every time you went, just because of blind loyalty, as it was local..?

Suppose if we all supported our local corner shop and high street then asda and tesco wouldn't be where they are now

when i Baught my ping irons i first approached the pro at a local club and said "I'm just about to spend £610 on some irons at the belfry. I'd rather put the money in your pocket" . he said he could do them for £640 and was really offended when i said no.

as far as I'm concerned, i tried!!
