Was reading an article on improving fitness for golf and aone of the suggestions was that we need to improve our balance throughout the swing.
It seems the average Tour Pro can balance on one leg or the other for around 20-30 secs with their EYES CLOSED before stumbling, but the average amateur can't manage anything like this. I tried it and can only manage 7-10 secs before collapsing!! The only thing was they didn't tell you how to improve this feat! Practice I suppose.
Just interested - Can any one out there beat the pro's 20-30 secs (eyes closed)? :D

What do you take me for? You think think you are going to get me to stand on one leg with my eyes closed, would I put pins in my eyes just because you suggested it???

.... 53 seconds :o :o :D :D

How do you guys do it for so long, maybe you are some sort of super golfer? Im in the average tour pro category at 25 seconds (my first go!) :)

:eek:I can't believe how long some of you guys can balance!! Are you sure it's with your eyes closed?! I've tried again and still can't do better than about 10 seconds! Perhaps I should give up golf?
Eyes open I could stay there all day - Oh alright, slight exaggeration!! ;)

Kids and I were trying this in the livingroom. Opened my eyes after 20 second attempt to see four of the neighbours looking in. God knows what they must be thinking!

Thats it my best is 1 minute 24 seconds absolute agony .

I knew a girl, every time you kissed her, she lifted her leg and closed her eyes......
She could keep that up for hours....

(or until she dropped her chips :) :D :D)
Essex Girl joke there....

I was still balanced after 2 minutes and 11 seconds, but the strain in my leg caused me to give up. If I felt like going through the pain barrier I could manage 3 minutes I'm sure.

It's surprising how much it makes your leg ache at the time of doing it though. I can comfortably run for 90 minutes etc playing football, and regularly cover 4-5 miles continuously on the treadmill etc at the gym, and neither of them make my calf / hip abductors start shaking!

The real test is doing this on a wobble board...I haven't done it in a while though so can't remember my score, quite a bit less though I should imagine.
