Just interested as my pairs are coming up to 2 years old now and the bottoms are quite worn down. Not a worry as they were not expensive pairs but it has made me think if Spikeless are the best option if I want a more expensive pair if the soles are only to grip for a couple of seasons

My Ashworths are currently into their third season and still plenty of life in them

The three other pairs I have are between two and one season old and still fine

I guess it would depend on how often you wear them - two years seems good marker for regula 2/3 a week wear maybe ?

The puma ones I had last year only just saw the season out, soles (pimpled) were worn down completely by the end of it. Replaced with a different puma pair (with a totally different sole) and a pair of Ecco Bioms, both soles look as brand new still, far more hard wearing. Think theyve improved since the first ones came out and will last much much longer

It depends how often you play, how firm the course (and paths are). I would have thought 2-3 years would be standard for maybe 2-3 rounds per week. I don't think by design there made for heavy duty use and so if you can rotate several pairs (of course not everyone wants more than one pair) it'll help, especially as the OP says they weren't prohibitively expensive

At least 2 years of summer seasons i hope - I have a pair of eccos really pleased with them, the leather needs to be looked after though keep polishing with clear polish

Would not wear in depths winter revert back to my old ecco gortex pair

I've found from experience that the FJ Contour Casual range wears faster than Adidas, Ecco and Puma.

That said the FJ are certainly the most comfortable on a par with Puma.

Into 4th year with my eccos and while they are wearing down they still have plenty grip left in them and just started with some Adidas

I'd be a bit peeved if I don't get three years from a pair

I guess it depends on a number of things really - how heavy you walk, how much you wear them off the course, what type of sole they have etc. I have two pairs of spikeless shoes, one Adidas and one Footjoy, and rotate between them. The Adidas ones are just coming to the end of their second season, very comfortable and the soft rubber sole has hardly worn down at all. The Footjoys on the other hand are not even a full season old and worn down way beyond anything I wold expect after a season. The sole is a much harder compound and is worn smooth in the centre of the sole as well as the heels. I wear both pairs from home on occasion, and I play up to 4 times a week, if I'm honest I wear the FJ's more than the Adidas this year as they are my fav pair. Consequently am a little disappointed in the Footjoys, but am still likely to buy another pair as they really are a good shoe to play in.
