UK......Do you recommend pensioners from abroad to move to UK and play golf among other things........just thinking of how to do when becoming pensioner later on in life.......stay in sweden and cope with long dark winters or move abroad where one can practice golf most time of year...

what are your plans as pensioners or already is pensioners? do you recommend me to move to UK as pensioner?:):whoo:

I have been a pensioner for longer than I care to think about. I, and many others, play in 3 competitions a week throughout the year plus other rounds in matches, away days, away weekends etc.. You do, however, need to choose your course carefully as many courses suffer in wet conditions as you can learn if you trawl through posts from earlier in the year. Links and heathland/moorland are your best bets.

The winters aren't that great for golf in the UK. If you want to golf in reasonable conditions all year round I an afraid you will need to look further south than this country.

Unless, of course, you enjoy wearing thermals and waterproofs.

You big softy.

You big softy.

We have only met the once but you sussed me out!

I told you I never play when the temperature is less than 7* C and I certainly never start a round in the rain.

You're right I'm a big jessie.

A look at a couple of other posts on this page discussing the merits of "long johns" and thermal gloves pretty much provides a compelling argument in favour of warmer and sunnier retirement golf destinations than the UK.
Not that I am advocating my chosen corner of France as fitting the bill - a couple of our members head south into Spain when the worst of the winter weather arrives. Proper softies.

I'd love to be a golfing pensioner in the UK. The winters can be bad but there are a lot of places worse than the UK in winter. At least the courses down here in the South are usually open for play. The only problem is I'm not a pensioner and work gets in the way :D

Should there not be an infraction for using nasty four letter words on the forum?

You could give a retiree palpitations using words like (I can hardly bare to say it).....WORK!

Work is doing something you have to do or don't want to do. Can't remember what that's like now!
Re OP. Our course is open all year, snow excepted, but then we are on 100 odd metres of limestone.
PS I don't voluntarily go out in the cold or rain. I like being a softee.
