Well today was the 1st of the non qualifying comps, so for me season is over, time for some serious practice now that handicaps cant be affected
For me, i started of at 27.7 after last years end of season review put me up a shot.
Most of the season was all .1's till i hit 28 and couldn't go higher, was always missing the pb by a few points and constantly scoring high 20's.

I was giving up hope, till i got some tips from a friend about course management, and bang, it all came together after ICC where i won my 1st prize... 10 euro for coming 2nd :D after that it was 2 cuts and a my 1st comp win, all within 2 weeks, since then i have been hitting the buffer comfortably, and found my confidence with my driver!

All in all a slow start but was worth it in the end!

how has your season gone?

Distinctly average! Playing better but not putting it all together! Just hit a bit of form now that the season has finished, typical!

Re: How has your season went then??

Overall a pretty rubbish year but I ended up back where I started - in single figures so cant complain too much.

Re: How has your season went then??

It's been an enjoyable season

Played some wonderful courses - meet some cracking people

Won a couple comps and got to a final of another

Still a few more to go

Re: How has your season went then??

My sig tells the story. Have played more comps than it shows now but since I've hit the limit on what I can get back this year they haven't been worth reporting on.

Re: How has your season went then??

Started on 10 h/cap and lost my good strike of the ball after some disasterous lessons. After abandoning the coach and the lessons I know have found my strike again but too late to salvage this season and going through the winter on 12 h/c

Re: How has your season went then??

Pretty good, steady progress handicap down from 15.4 to 11.9 and also played lots of new courses.

Re: How has your season went then??

I don't wish to boast, but went from 22.0 with my first official handicap at new club over the summer to 17.6 with ESR cut last week.

Won a monthly Stableford & Medal, and found out me & my brother in law are runners up in the Autumn Trophy 4BBB from Saturday, so we're now off to the presentation evening Saturday with a nice mention :)

It's been a good year. Things can only get worse

Re: How has your season went then??

Poor year in many ways. Regular collapses in competitions, handicap on the verge of going on, 22.4, rather than down. Individual ball striking is getting better, never hit irons better, but over 18 holes it is just not happening. Slightly depressed.

Work over the winter: Keep working on ball striking with irons and start threatening with putts. Have to threaten with putts.

Re: How has your season went then??

Started on 6.8 & after 42 comps im on 6.9 now . last tuesday was the only comp that really bugged me . -1 (23pts) thru 9 to finish with 35 pts , RUBBISH .. 3 qualifiers left , weather permitting ..

season summary .. 5/10 must improve

Part of team that won Winter league (played 3 won 3 in the matchplay knock outs) :D

Got to 6 for the first time (6.4) for a short spell :D , but that went up to 7.7 in 16 comps :(, & got back down again :)

Played rubbish in defending my ICC title :(, (great courses & good craic tho)

Got picked for Barton Cup team at the club (Biggy foresomes team) played 3 won 3  got dropped .. we got to the final tho , best the club has done since 1972 .. bitter sweet

Won a couple of gross prizes :) (gross score that is not gross prizes ha ha)

Came 2nd in golfer of the year order of merit .. :)

So.. :D:D:(:):(:thup::confused::):) it is then

Re: How has your season went then??

Had such a disappointing season, I cannot bring my "range form" to the course. Its there in flashes but it has been extremely frustrating.

However having had to stop playing regularly for a few years due to finances I can tell you this has also been the BEST season I can remember, because I could actually play whenever I want!!

Re: How has your season went then??

golf wise pretty much non existent so have written this year off already.

socially great, been to a few meets (not as many as I would like) and met some great people.

Re: How has your season went then??

Started season at 20.2 ... went up to 20.4 before being lucky enough to be selected by GM/Ping for iron fitting.

Took me a while to get to grips with the new bats, and coupled with a knee injury I climbed to 20.8. After minor surgery on the knee I had 4 weeks off and after getting back, couldn't stop the slide and before I knew it I was up to 21.2.

Did the Longest Day Challenge, and that took a bit out of me, and I was struggling for form to the point I had hit 21.4 and staring 22 in the face when hit with a major crisis-of-confidence, and I took another couple of weeks off competition golf... played a couple of bounce games, had a lesson, hit the practice ground/range pretty hard following.

Reaping the rewards now. Handicap has tumbled to 17.9 at season-end, was as low as 17.6 and could have been lower if I could have putted better. Runner-up in two medals, beaten on count-back both times, and tied-second in our 2-day 'major', finishing one off the eventual winner this season.

Qualified for both the end-of-season midweek/weekend competitions and feeling a lot more positive.

Re: How has your season went then??

not bad, went from 6.4 to 4.5.

made it into cat1 and had a few cuts while there. so quite pleased.

Only down side was while i was playing my best we had a month with no comps and no opens locally so disappointing to not be able to make the most of the good form at the time.

Just have to hope the current Mrs148 doesn't find out i got down to cat1, as i promised her i would give up once i got there;)

Re: How has your season went then??

poor ...... 10 x 0.1+

Playing quite well and happy in knocks, but can't string it together in comps, even with the NGT (which has helped with stopping my desire to get angry at myself but not with my overall performance).

Currently undergoing lessons for a swing change after seeing a video of myself with a horrible overswing...... time to work for next season....

Re: How has your season went then??

Early season I won my first board competition (Winter H/cap KO singles) at current club after 11 years - Hurrah! - but at same time in May-June my game completely collapsed. Lessons required re-learning all of my shots (other than putting) - and so chance of getting to target of 9 this year pretty much evaporated. But HOPE! Finishing this weekend in last summer comp with 37pts and 9 over gross 81 (off yellows) which included a triple and a double. So a much more solid base I think for next year. Let's see how the winter comps go. A true curate's egg of a season.

Season started great - in the space of one week in May I went from 7.4 down to 6.2 and topped it off with winning our club's biggest team event.

Since then it's been decidedly average (at best) and the handicap has crept back up to 6.9.

Re: How has your season went then??

Do most people judge how their season has gone by their HC?
