We all miss greens, some just off the edge but some badly...... in bushes, bunkers trees etc.
But when you've just missed the green and are not in trouble as above, how often do you get up and down...say as a percentage?

And how important are those 'up and downs' for the momentum of your round ?

Is improving rapidly due to an ever worsening long game meaning that I get plenty of practice around the greens with chipping etc. Would say up and down around 40% of the time

Strongest part of my game I feel. 29 putts today and most 1 putts as I missed the green but chipped stone dead or a few feet at most. Happy playing chip and run with anything from 8 iron but also putting loft on the shot if required. Love the short game challenge and deciding what shot to play and then nailing it. I really feel a proper golfer stood over such shots and reckon I get up and down less than I should due to my putting being less effective!

Edit - don't know the stat but would say 60% of the time...

This is the issue with my game at the moment and the reason I've gone up from 5 to 7 this year alone. I'd say I get up and down from the edge of the green about 25% of the time just now which for my handicap is completely unacceptable.

If I could regain my short game confidence I reckon I could get down to my target handicap of 3 or 4 which I think with my ball striking is realistic.

According to the stats site I use, this year I'm up and down 43.39% of the time. Apparently, according to them, that equates to a 3 h'capper.:) Unfortunately its my long game that causes all the damage...:(

The biggest thing to affect my game, recently I have been awful and scored badly, yesterday I had a few up and downs and won my match.

My short game defines whether or not I have a good round.

This is a strong part of my game and I expect to get up and down every time I am in this situation, glad to say that I am not in this position to often. It more often than not happens when the pin is on the front of the green and I am trying to get close.

But how often do you actually achieve it? That is the crucial thing :(

Not sure of a percentage but this is the most improved part of my game.

The one thing probably letting me down is my putting but i did manage 25 putts the other day where i am normally round 32-36 putts. I am getting my wedges much closer now though so having shorter putts, i'm just missing some silly ones. My wedge play does mean I have pretty much stopped the three putts though I still manage the odd one.

Mine tends to be a little better than my handicap would suggest.... Everyone comments on it when I'm playing because I do miss greens some days a lot others not so much.... But I don't miss them by much from the short irons to wedges.... I think from mid iron and higher the miss rate will obviously be higher.....

I would say if I'm playing well short game wise is get up and down maybe 60% of the time... At worst a bogie.....

To my round they are very important because if I'm scoring well around the greens I get a bit more aggressive from 120-130 yards because I won't mind missing greens.

my short game is the best part of my game. im all over the place with the long clubs and not great with mid irons.

I really love chipping so im happy to practice it till I am blue in the face.
