Whats Sunbury like stevo? An uncle of mine use to be captain at one of the clubs at Sunbury, I shall have to ask him at the next family wedding.

I travel 5 minutes to my course + driving range. You have loads of courses around you, your spoilt for choice.

The travel time depends on how you spend you time at the club, if you socialize and drink there you dont want to be having expensive Taxi rides all the time.

I have my course about 5-10 minutes away depending on traffic- and obviously this has all the practice facilities I could want / need. Or if not I have an average floodlit range about 15 minutes away, a better one about 25 minutes away and a top notch one 30-40 minutes away traffic depending.

Takes me ten minutes to get to my club. There are nearer clubs but the one I joined suited my needs better.

Currently drive 2 miles though it can take as long as 15 minutes or so to get there. I've no objection to driving 10 to 15 miles to play a course on a fairly regular basis.

The club I'm considering taking my business to next year is about 10 miles away, but will only take an extra 5 minutes to get to than current club. I know, as I've timed both trips.

10 minutes from home, 35 minutes from work. The time from work is more important than the time from home, as I only go to golf from home at the weekend, when I can leave when I want, but to play golf in the evening after work, I am against the clock to get there and get a few holes in before dark.

3.2 miles to my home muni, I don't drive so its about £6 each way in a taxi and paying a muni price keeps her HID happy, but I have emailed some local private courses asking about membership, I beleive Headingley GC is about 2.4 miles away which would be ideal.

Good point about finding something that is also close to work (for those of us who drive).

There are a couple caurses which are the wrong side of Town & one, about 10 miles in the oposite direction to where I'm thinking of for next year. A lot of mates from work use this course that is closer to work mainly because of its cheap fees & no joining fee. However, the course although an interesting layout has some inherant problems with it, in regards bad bunkers, with the wrong sort of sand. Lets just say you can use a putter to get out of them. And the tee boxes are not level in anyones world. Frendly atmosphere though. The second option closer to work is about 5 miles from home & 6 miles from work, much more convinient, but a bit toffee nosed & have a very high joining fee, there is a third option, but If I thought joining fee problems were bad for the second alternative option, well paying 2 years equivelent fees as a joining fee ontop of the subs for the first year is downright daylight robbery, especially considering the fees members have to pay. so not even an option in my book

Distance may be important, but so is the outlay & the time needed to get to a course.

Which is your home muni, Parmo?

I'm not a member anywhere, so depending who I am playing with I can travel 10 to 40 minutes to the courses.

Driving range is 10 minutes away.

Roundhay, I live in Moortown. Talking of Moortown, I emailed them & Headingley GC yesterday asking for a price on joining and subs, both where well over 2k joining fees + 1k+ subs looks like Municipal golf for me for the next few years.

Wike isn't too far from you, although I think they're quite pricey too.

Wike is £704 subs & £450 joining fee, I played there a few months ago and found it in a good state but its very boring and same ol same ol, it might be a bit better once matured in a few years but not worth the subs. Also its like a golf course and a pub not a club which is what I really want.

Roundhay season ticket is £370 for the year and £100 to join the club and comps with a hcp cert, and to be honest is one of the better courses in Leeds even though its 9 holes & 5250yrds, the greens are great at the moment and its a tricky track with SSS 65. I play there everyweekend and wished I had got the season ticket and joined, I will next year though.
