Sorry guys have asked this one before but can't find the Thread
When we went to 2 divisions in Competitions a couple of years ago, they also put the 2's in the same Div's.... saying "Oh it makes sense to do so", rather than the truth, "Don't want Div1's good players getting their hands on Div2's money"........ From 25 or so responses to my previous thread not one used Div's for allocation. As our Div's split at 15 it's the most likely source of success for our, very few, Cat 1 golfers who have no chance in the Club Stable fords...... maybe one of the discouragements that leads to us having so few 'low' golfers.
Opinions please

We have 2 sometimes 3 divisions for the top 3 positions, but the 2's are all a single pot.

Firstly, you are statistically wrong about Cat 1 players having 'no chance' in Club Stablefords - Congu stats show pretty much even split! And as Handicaps are Stableford measurements, that's as it should be! Basically, it's your 'few 'low' golfers' that is the reason!

As for 2s, I've seen different methods - separated by divisions; combined Cat 1 and 2 pot and a combined Cat 3 and 4 one (as played on different days); combined all divisions.

Also different ways for Hole in 1! Either scoops the pool or acts as 2*2s.

Linguistically wrong perhaps so, firstly, please read as 'having very little chance in Stablefords'...... strange how they struggle so much to get 43pts, can't understand it!!! haha.
Would be really interested to see the link to CONGU's Stats on that... cheers:thup:

One pot at our place for 2's, but at Cleveland GC, they currently have 2's in 2 Divisions,

3 divisions at ours, same as the competition splits. 10 & below, 11-14 and 15+. Included as part of the entry fee rather than optional though.

One week a mate in 11-14 ranges got around £5 and I got around £25 for the same 2. A sheet goes up on the board with the split and as would expect much more weighted to the low handicaps with 2s so I think that's why they brought the split in.

All in one pot at ours

In our medal yesterday my playing partner and I (both our first) got put in a group with a lad about 12, before we started the pro said he's a lovely lad but has autism so if he's quiet don't take it personnnaly, played round with me chatting enough for both of us trying to put him at ease as my mates kiddy is autistic and I know how hard it can be.

Anyway, got on the par 3 13 and the lad hits his driver which fades round lovely and just rolls off the back of the green, then goes to take his 2nd chip on, thins it 4 inches off the ground, hits the pin at about 20mph and drops in the whole for two, we all cheer and say how great a shot it was, he had the biggest grin on his face. Such a shame his mum hadn't paid the extra quid to enter him in the 2s

On a side note he had definitely come out of his skin when i stuck it in the 17th pond twice. Had a good laugh at my expense. Was a very enjoyable game for us all.

Ours is slightly different to most clubs.

£1 to enter the 2s

If you get a 2 then you get a sleeve of pro vs regardless of number of 2s posted.

Some day the shop wins but the majority of times they are well down but its a service to the members.

The last comp there was 27 2s and he only had 71 entrants!

Lovely story. We have a son with Asperger's and great to see that the lad at your club was made welcome

I think in time he could become a very good golfer, every time he set up the same, placed his club, sorted his grip, spread his feet, looked up a couple to times and hit his shot, has a lovely swing and was only lacking in strength. Certainly made my happy Gilmore style of golf look a bit lackluster.

All into one pot and divided by the players who get one
