How do you remove a grip, with out cutting it off?

Hi I want to remove a grip on a wedge as I am reshafting it tomorrow and want to reuse it. The grip has only been on a couple of weeks.

I will not take it to a pro, but would like to know how they used to do it.

I do have a compressor, but was wondering if I could get it off with solvent, if so how best to get it under the grip. I have seen a pressurised gun to do it, but £70 for a oil can with a needle is a bit OTT for a one off job.

The solvent gun with a needle is really NOT a good idea. I've heard of horror stories using such equipment.

If you have use of a compressor. Blow the grip off.

you can use a syringe (v cheap from chemist) filled with petrol, inject it under the grip - and will come off easily.

Bit expensive, I would use a solvent that isnt taxed so well.

Being an analytical chemist I can advise ALL day on solvents

He'll be able to syringe it off for you in seconds

Compressed air is the easiest way. I have taken loads off that way and it's quicker than solvents.
