Team of 4 drive off.
You pick the best drive and all go to that point.
All 4 players play a shot and you pick the best 2nd shot.
All go to that point and so on and so on!!!
Useally there is a rule that you have to use 4 of every players drive within the round.
I play these a lot in winter,we are aiming for a -15 gross score in this format at least.
Our fourball are all low H/cappers though.
Its Good fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Our Vets have a sensible variation - the player whose drive is taken on a particular hole is not allowed to play the second shot on that hole. This partly negates the advantage of having a low handicapper in the team.
Sorry to hijack this guys but has anyone had trouble getting onto the forum tonight?I've been trying for 3 hours!
(have I upset someone and been blackballed??)
Just one very important thing to remember on the putting green when you are playing a texas scramble. Only mention it, because we got caught out twice in the same round and it's very easy to forget.
If you are faced with the first putt and you knock it up just an inch from the hole, DO NOT TAP THE PUTT IN. MARK IT. OTHERWISE THAT SECOND PUTT WILL COUNT AND YOUR PLAYING PARTNERS WON'T GET THE CHANCE TO GO FOR THE LONGER PUTT.
